A Lady after my own heart! Regarding replacement, with the California sun, I never had to replace the tops on my previous two Mustangs and they both got to the 100K mark and going strong. Most of that is common sense like not putting it down wet which prevents weaking of the fabric and thread. Also putting the top up and down alot is like having a giant pair of dull scissors chomping on the material. If you can leave it either up or down for days/weeks better for the longevity of the top.

See i think the "convertibles are no good in the cold" is a damn lie.

mine have been year-round DDs and there is no issue with driving one when it's only 10 degrees outside.
My S197 Vert was out in all weathers, the roof was perfect
Only become a Vert owner as the car I wanted had a vert model.
the Supra's never or the MR2, now the Capri would have been pretty cool as a Vert

Back in the day, I had a 1970 Barracuda Vert and lived in the NE, it was my daily driver and actually went through the Blizzard of '78 with that and was at work when the blizzard hit and drove it back home over 20 miles getting around most that got stuck on Rte 128. When the snow was finished it was so high that all I could see of my car was the top of the antenna. In short, the top was fine. Top that (no pun intended)

Oh the Blizzard of '78, I remember that very well - I had a '67 Firebird that survived the ordeal as well. Rte 128 - Mass or RI? It was EPIC! I used to practice throwing the Bird into 360's in the parking lots at the mall LOL! Yes, top down with wind chills like -30F.

Looking at the poll for 2016 orders on another string, I was surprised by the numbers for convertibles ordered. 520 of us responded to the poll and only about 15% ordered convertibles. And they were overwhelmingly GT premiums about 75%.

What's up with that? I think that they got the line of the coupe perfect. That is part of it. And better for racing. Unlikely it is cost as so many convertibles are GT premiums which are the most expensive non-Shelby model in the current line. But less than 1 in 5?
I like having a roof over my head, especially in a performance car. Many track events don't even allow convertibles. Plus there are very few days out of the year that are good for a convertible. It's either too hot or too cold most of the time.

Add to that, you never know if the sky is falling

Yup, there are us diehard ragtop people and the "what if I flip my car" people. Luckily there are enough of us to keep Ford and others to churn them out. Blizzard of '78 is why I joined Uncle Sam's Canoe Club and moved to warmer climates! So done with snow and ice!

Took me 38 years to do the same.

My girlfriend has an older Mustang convertible, her new factory ordered 2016 GT vert should arrive soon, as in the next few weeks.

Vancouver is my favorite city in the western hemisphere and that will be a stunning place to drive a vert! I might not even mind being in the passenger seat with that kind of scenery. What color? Mine is due in June 9. Drive it in good health
