That's too bad as I can't imagine a better tire short of the Sport Cups or Trofeos.
BFG Rivals?

Rival S's, but not the Rivals. The Rival S is one of those tires that actually gets that much better, the wider you go. That's why a lot of bigger cars run them too and work unusually well with live axle cars. There's two CAM class F Body cars in the Solo Milly chapter that won't run anything but Rival S's or slicks and they won't do that because that'll kick em out of class.BFG Rivals?
I was quite shocked at how much better they were than the RE11s which were great tires themselves.Rival S's, but not the Rivals. Looking at the tread pattern, you wouldn't think the 71R's are anything overly special but they are seriously magic on wheels.
Last season one of our top STR drivers did a test run with his S2000, just swapped tires with someone else for ONE run, from Direzza ZII's to RE71R's and picked up a a second and light change. He thought he said he felt slower before he saw the actual time.I was quite shocked at how much better they were than the RE11s which were great tires themselves.
They are going to have a 305/30/19 RE71R available in the spring.Yeah unfortunatley I don't think we'll see an RE71R size that would make sense. Damn those S2000 bastards!
Oh...my...god...:eyebulge:They are going to have a 305/30/19 RE71R available in the spring.
Bliss. They are going to have a 305/30/19 RE71R available in the spring.
They are very confidence inspiring.Last season one of our top STR drivers did a test run with his S2000, just swapped tires with someone else for ONE run, from Direzza ZII's to RE71R's and picked up a a second and light change. He thought he said he felt slower before he saw the actual time.
Exactly. Where the RE11's and 71's may start to feel greasy, the 71R's just stick. HOWEVER...how have they been wearing elsewhere around the country? The guys who are running them by me love then sans the fact that they fired through a whole set a LOT quicker than expected. They are very confidence inspiring.
Too early to tell yet for me. I just got them recently and I'm only driving about 17 miles a day where previously I was driving 100 miles a day.Exactly. I used RE71R's on my WRX STI this year. I went through 3 sets of tires, almost needing a 4th set by the end of the season. They grip and wear like R compound tires (slicks).Exactly. Bring it to BIR and we can play with the P-cars ;) Go for a set of the N4SM R spec wheels and you can either run a 295/315 or 315 square Hoosier setup for the track and save your PSS tires for the street.Should be interesting to find out how people like different setups once the cars are driven on the track. I sure wouldn't change anything before driving the car a few times. Plus I have to admit to being inexperienced enough that I would rather have understeer than have the car be perfectly neutral until I lift at the wrong time..
