@Cobra Jet is correct and has some very good info.

M-1700-M

Ford Performance makes a tie down kit for our cars because US models do not have any tie down points from the factory. If you plan to tow the car frequently it is very useful.
Thanks for supplying the Ford part info!

Are the front bolts normally the ones most jacking rails use? I presume that if you have jacking rails installed, you will not be able to use the hold down points.

Looking at the M-1700-M PDF for the Ford tie downs (attached) it appears possibly - BUT I would think one could just get extended bolts that would allow the use of the tie downs with jacking rails.

The BMR rails (that I have) have pockets that the bolt go into. They do not bolt to the bottom surface. I guess you would be squeezing the bar with the tie down bracket then. Not saying good bad or indifferent, just stating a fact.

Too bad the jacking rail guys did not incorporate these hold down points into the rails!

Yes, I have to take the jacking rails off my car when I tow it.

Never tow from those areas. The issue with those specific spots is this:

Once the hook is inserted and force is exerted while pulling the vehicle onto the flat bed - 99.9% of the time that hole in the subframe sheet metal will elongate or get distorted. In worst case scenarios that force will also cause metal fatigue or cracks. The subframes on any Mustang are not thick, they are boxed.

I should have made clear that I was referring to winching it up and for tiedown on a flatbed, not towing.

That being said, the Ford wrecker towing manual (FCS-12141-19) disagrees with your statements about winching onto the flatbed and tiedown points. Were those method to cause the damage described at the frequency stated, I would expect the lawsuits and warranty claims would be fairly loud on the forum, if nowhere else.
