Don't try and tell that to manual guys that throw in 6th @ 55mph pulling 2K RPM and listen to them bitch about drone from their catback...concept of RPM and gear is totally lost on them.
You must be a blast at parties. Are all 500+ of your posts saying nobody but you knows how to drive a stick?

Thanks for all the replies.

Does the current auto GT have paddle shifters as well?
Some or all do because the marketing for the GT350 steering wheels say you can move your paddle shifters to it.

I cant get my OEM exhaust to drone no matter what I do....

lol sooo true .. im a manual guy atm .. and i always say any exhaust will drone if your in the wrong gear trying to get on it .. im only in 6th at 80 mph or above . i didnt buy a rpm loving motored car to lug through gears at low rpms lol
As for only in 6th at 80+, I don't get why I would do that cruising down the highway with the top down at 55-650 mph, enjoying a nice leisurely drive. I will keep my revs down a bit and save a little gas (Not that it really matters about the gas, just sayin...:D)

And if I want to pass, drop a gear, nail it and go.

The three pedal master race has really been riled up on this one, holy crap.

If the A10 performs as well as it has shown to in the ZL1..the only reason to get a manual will be personal preference, road course as well as drag strip.

Why are so many people interested in a 10 speed automatic? What's the advantage or appeal, etc? Other than maybe gas mileage I fail to see the awesomeness.
Just watch an F1 race when the cars are accelerating on the main straight from 4th-5th-6th-7th-8th gears. The engine is always wrapping out near redline. It's a rush.

Those of us who wanted automatic had the opportunity to choose the 3.15 or 3.55 diff. 3.15 for MPG, and 3.55 for harder acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gears.
I have driven both, and the 3.55 certainly pulls harder.

I am looking forward to the 10spd because then I can get the hardest pulls and great MPG too.

I would say the car would be optimized with 8 speeds, but the new trans was developed for more than one platform. And then there is the marketing aspect...

On a serious note..

For motors with fairly peaky power bands, IE the Coyote, the A10 is going to be more helpful than say..the LT1 with it's fat power areas down low. It can find a gear in acceleration that keeps the engine at peak power, instead of dropping down low and then having to crawl and claw their way back into the power.

It can also maintain or improve economy by having triple overdrives while improving acceleration when ripping around WOT.

The argument of "it's going to weigh more and have more friction"..yeah..but the weight difference will be closer to 25lbs, not 100+.

A lot of manual fans still, I think a bit subconsciously, feel like we're still in the C4/AOD/700R4 days...we're not.

Even the A6 is better than the MT. At this day and age, getting an MT is purely personal preference.

I just find it funny how ignorant some of the responses here are: HERP DERP AUTOTH THUCK GUYTHHH

If you prefer manual, good for you. If you hate automatics good for you. No one cares.
This thread is, from my understanding, asking why it would be appealing. Not about how cool you are and how you think auto's are for women and children.

it matters when people who insist everyone think like they do are the people creating what is available... :paddle:

What I was getting at is that this isn't a debate on which is better and why, auto vs manual.
We have the other 5 billion threads to read if that's what you fancy this morning.

transmissions that shift at the wrong time are not better than... well, anything.
In the wrong gear in the auto? Simple, just put the pedal to the floor, instant right gear.

If it can be had WITH Brembo/PP package then sure. If some dumb dip shyte at Ford decides automatic car owners don't need Brembos and the other PP features... don't want it.
