You guys could always install a rubber stopper around the car like bumper cars. Lol I bet it would save a lot of door dings

If it was me and the mustang was my only car, I would just accept the fact that the car is in no way going to remain prestine, take the most precautions possible, and make a relationship with the best ding repair artist in the area.

I drive the mustang sparingly with the general rule of not taking it unless the destination will allow options for parking by design. I will literally use google street view to investigate possible parking scenarios for trips. If the parking situations allow no good choices, mustang stays home and the Honda or the truck take the hit. Also for commuting, if it's a rainy morning with a higher probability of someone slamming into me, truck is the only way to go as it seems to deflect small-medium sized cars effortlessly. If it's not raining but high probability that I will be working late and stuck in a traffic apocalypse in the evening, I'll take the Honda.

Unless you have a stable that allows for options that involve sometimes leaving the mustang at home, there's really no way to keep it pristine without being a total weirdo and treating it like a priceless classic Ferrari. Again though, someone with a car that is truly special is going to have a means of not parking it in dicks shopping center. I do see 100k+ super cars parked in tight spots at lunch around the Silicon Valley, but it's all relative, that 100k car is their beater, the 2.5 million dollar stallion is at home in a climate controlled bubble lol.

Even with my choices, the mustang was defaced on the very first day of ownership simply from driving it home. Some geek with a pickup truck full of dirtbikes merged on to the freeway and chucked a rock at my windshield. I chalked it up as a bit of karma for my time driving a lifted jeep with wide tires and no mud flaps. Only way I could have prevented that would be to only bring the mustang on the freeway inside of an enclosed trailer.
I hear ya and I have come to grips with my car not staying in perfect condition. I try to avoid all mishaps and events of possible damage, but some things can't be avoided. You should hear me cuss when I hear something hit the car on the highway. To some, I'm sure it'd be quite humorous lol.

If that were my car (mine is my DD), I would prolly commend them for caring enough to not hit my bumper while they shove their ginormous vehicle into a tiny space. That was prolly a two-man job.

Then I would move up several inches if possible for a little more protection. Or just move. :D

I always have conflicted feelings, when I find the first ding/paint chip on a new car. 1) anger about who/what ever did this to my baby...2) relief...now I don't have to worry any more about the first blemish.

If you're going to go to a large event like a gun show, expect parking situations like this. I honestly wouldn't have batted an eye at it, and frankly, it astounds me that any of you see this as an issue. There are far worse things in this world, let alone things that can happen to a car, to consider this a major problem. You weren't even hit. Spend some time living in an urban area where parking is an issue like this everywhere.

parking like that was just bad manners and unnecessary. How is this any different than a huge / junky vehicle that parks 6" from a door? "Well, you can still get into the car using the other door, so I don't see what the problems is ... "
