One other funny thing.

I was at the mall and there was this guy waxing an actual Boss 302 in the shade. Me and this kid who drives a Camaro SS went over there to oogle the thing. Anyway the kid had to go to work and me and the guy started talking. He was 70 but did not look it. He showed me how he restored it and that the only thing not stock was the wheels and tires. Then the shocker, he told me he’d rather have a car like mine. I told him it was a V6 and not an 8 and he still wanted it. I’m so thick that it didn’t occur to me to offer him a trade and snatch the 302. Well that’s my stupidity. I guess he can’t finance a new car anymore, anyway I can only wonder...

I just purchased my 7th Mustang this past Monday. a Need For Green 19 PP1 car with 10spd and 401A. My current car is a 2011 premium GT and is 8 1/2 years old now. While it is still a great car, it pales in comparison to this. I generally order any Mustang I get, but I searched and found around 5 in NFG that basically matched my specs of 10spd 401A cars. All them just happened to be PP1 cars which was fine, although I didn't have to have that since I generally change a lot of suspension components anyway. I kept working until I got a dealer to come down to what I thought was a good price, then pulled the trigger.

Actually the PP1 was available with the auto back in 16 on the coupe only, The convertibles had to wait until 18 to get an auto with the PP

I thought all 15-17 pp cars were only available in mt-82? News to me.

In 15, the first year of the S-550, the PP was only available on the coupe and only with the MT-82. In 16 ford allowed it on the convertibles, still with the MT-82 as your only trans choice. Also in 16 they allowed the 6R80 auto trans with the PP on the coupe only. Then finally in 18 you could get the PP with either trans in either body. And for general info the PP2 only comes on the coupe and only with the MT-82, another tidbit of info, the MT-82 PP cars get 3.73 gears while the auto ones get 3.55 gears

Gone through a several Mustangs in the past; a 1999 Cobra and a 2003 Mach 1 to name a few. As I got older I moved into European counterparts; E55 AMG and a Porsche 911. Nearly 20 year later, the time came to purchase a new 911. That's when I realized that I was truly a Mustang guy. So, I built one to my specification online: A 2018 Shadow Black GT premium, PP1, leather seats, navigation, spoiler delete, and finally a 6speed manual. Low and behold, found her 5 miles away. Better yet, for less than half the price of a new 911. A no brainer. No regrets. I friggy love my Stang.

I bought a beat up 1997 Mustang v6 with 150k miles on it when I was 18. I didn't know anything about cars but slowly learned. I rebuilt the trans, got a 5.0 HO on ebay, did a slew of other mods, and learned so much. However, 8 years later, this sturdy daily driver got a rod knock that sounded like a sledge hammer was hittinf the block. I wanted to rebuild the engine but just never mustered the motivation. I loved my experience with the car but not a week went by where I didn't have to take a wrench to it. So I just drove a 1998 Ford Taurus that I kept for emergencies.

Two years later I was browsing some benefits I had from my job, and one was a discount for Ford. For kicks I priced out a 2019 and realized I could actually afford it if I paid 10k up front. I went to the dealer the next day to see what this new 5.0 was made of and found a pp1 base GT in velocity blue. I never thought I'd own a blue car (I wanted red like my old Mustang) but this thing was gorgeous, and stood out to all the black and silver Mustangs on the lot. It also had 2.6 miles on it. This car was about as new as it got. I was probably a bit too impulsive but I don't regret this car for a second, even after needing a longblock replacement. I'm young enough to get to tackle life with my favorite car at my side, but old enough to have the self restraint to not kill myself with the car (if I had 400 hp when I was 18.... scary). I still keep driving that Taurus around, though. My intent is to use this Mustang as a daily driver but that "new" factor hasn't worn off yet. The Taurus just started chugging coolant, so I may be forced into that anyways.

On a side note. I still get a little sad seeing the two Mustangs parked side by side (I legit cried sitting in my old Mustang, after buying the new one, realizing that it really was time to part ways). Thay 1997 pales in every single way, but it's been through everything with me. My sentimental butt sometimes feels like I just cheated on my first love. Crazy how attached to an inanimate object one can get.

Really? Guys getting attached to their cars on a Mustang fan forum? How unusual! But I second your feelings on ditching the V6. Mine is totally reliable and when you think about changing things up you remember this car never stranded you once. So for me I am still with it. I love the underdog vibe that comes with the car. Like my first old car I turned into a hot rod. I slept in that beater the first night I got it. Young love...

Then I replaced it with a black 5.0 Mustang.

Mine is totally reliable and when you think about changing things up you remember this car never stranded you once. So for me I am still with it. I love the underdog vibe that comes with the car. There are plenty on here that switch it up every couple of years without a second thought, so to some it still could be lol. I slept in mine a few times, myself. It was a safe place. I know a few parties I attended that I was offered a couch to sleep on, but despite being significantly less comfortable, I opted to sleep in my car without hesitation (unless a woman was present to entice me otherwise). I just felt like nothing could hurt me in that old sn95. It's a feeling I can't help but wonder if my new Mustang will ever be able to reproduce. Like you said with reliability, even when the rod sounded like it could go at any second, it still got me back home just fine (an hour long drive... I unhooked the spark plug wire to help as much as I could haha).

Well.. at least now I know I have a 'rare' Base 2017 Grabber Blue Mustang GT in the Canadian Market!

Here's my journey.

I moved to the states in 2014 and my first experience of the muscle cars was when i rented both the Camaro and S197 V6 convertibles back to back on a 1 week trip to California in summer of 2014. I loved the design of Camaro back then (compared to S197), it felt refined to drive and had some cool features like the HUD, etc. but the visibility was poor. The S197 interior was disappointing in comparison but it was more raw and fun. I instantly felt connected and knew i had to get one at some point. Few months later the S550 was released, i was just blown away by the design, it was simply stunning. Fast forward a year later, I bought my first S550 in 2016 which was a V6 fastback automatic and drove the hell out of it, put 32k miles on it in the 1.5 years i owned it. Honestly the V6 wasn't a bad car at all, i modded it a little like upgrading the infotainment to Sync 3, replacing the exhaust with Borla Atak, etc. But less than a year after owning it, the itch for a GT started creeping in. It was a temptation that kept growing by the day that i couldn't resist. For someone like me, this was probably the only chance in my lifetime i could have to experience a V8. Even though i have a company car to drive all the time and it's a terrible decision financially, this was a opportunity i couldn't pass up. After looking at various used 15-17 GTs and waiting for nearly a year and trying to sell my car meanwhile, i finally decided to custom order a 2018. I was disappointed with the design of 2018 when it was revealed in early 2017 and it took many months for me to start liking the front end. But i wasn't getting any good deals on used GTs and i liked the new features in 2018 plus got a great deal when i was ordering so pulled the trigger. I have my 2018 GT for 8 months now and i absolutely love it, i already invested close to 10k in mods already. I intend to keep this car for a long time and no other car in the market has caught my attention in the past few years like the S550 did.

Mind if I ask what your first car was?

A green 1979 four door Mercury Marquis with a Variable Venturi carb. Once I replaced that rat shit of a carb I was off to the races. Yup, a green sedan with a 302 motor - love knows no boundaries...
