There are a lot of people complaining about seatbacks not cooling, me included. I want to know how many people out there who have seats that work to give the rest of us some hope that there is a possible fix.

The very lower part of my seat does (GT premium), but nothing above the belt line.

Same on our '14 Explorer Sport

I tried mine for the first time yesterday and my seat was cooling my butt and about the middle part of my back down... I was actually quite surprised with it!

I was under the impression only the heat works on both the bottom and back parts of the seat. The cooling seems to only be on the bottom. I feel like this makes sense since I believe the cooling is simply some fans circulating air (as opposed to heating elements imbedded in the seat). I'm guessing the fans can only be installed in the bottom section since there's no real way to install them for the back.

EDIT: After reading through the thread linked above, I guess the heating and cooling should have the same effectiveness (even though they don't). Sounds like it is what it is. Not much Ford can do about it.

The consensus seems to be that the seat backs should be delivering cool air yet most people's don't. I have seen a few posts that said theirs work. Those that work are to a lesser extent than the bottom but they can clearly feel it. My seatbacks don't do anything as most from what I' ve seen. I started this thread to see how many work out of curiosity.

I can feel mine on my back after the gym when I'm sweaty other wise I only really feel it on the bottom.

I've played around with mine after finding out that the back is supposed to cool as well as the bottom. My passenger seat works wonderfully both heating and cooling whereas my driver's seat heats perfectly fine but will only cool the bottom while it heats the back. You see, that is not my idea of cooled seats...:(
I'm hoping Ford gets something figured out that will be a permanent fix. Until then I will glare angrily at the back of my seat in hopes that it will fix itself.

Yep, I've had complaints about this as well. On cooler days, it seems to work just fine. Also if I have the AC on real low, it seems to work better. Most of the time though, I just want to have the windows down on a hot day and have the seats cooled so I don't have to use the full AC.

Sure Ford can do something. Ford needs to come up with a duct that sucks the cabin air from below the seat. That is what Droid_Junky did with his home made inlet duct and the seat back unit cooled like it's supposed to. If anyone reads through the whole thread I linked to above, you will understand the problem. I won't be that hard for Ford to fix this.

Everyone needs to complain to their dealership that the seat backs only cool for ~10 min then stop, or even start blowing warm air. That is what most people are reporting.

Please keep in mind, if you are feeling cooling on the very bottom of the back, in the lumbar area, that is actually coming from the seat bottom as the parts that provide heating/cooling in the seat back are significantly higher than that. There is nothing in that area to provide cooling.
