My girlfriend had on a mini-skirt when we went out the other night and I turned her seat cooling on high. Within minutes she said her ass and kitty were getting cold and asked what I did. I told her and asked if her back was cooling off as well and she said no. I have found the same with the drivers seat. not much of anything with the back part, just the bottom cushion.
Thank you for your service to the forum. I hope "things" warmed up as the night went on. :D

I've played around with mine after finding out that the back is supposed to cool as well as the bottom. My passenger seat works wonderfully both heating and cooling whereas my driver's seat heats perfectly fine but will only cool the bottom while it heats the back. You see, that is not my idea of cooled seats...:(
I'm hoping Ford gets something figured out that will be a permanent fix. Until then I will glare angrily at the back of my seat in hopes that it will fix itself.
You probably just have the lumbar firmness adjusted differently and less restrictive of the air on the passenger side.

I think the back of the seat just pulls air through the perforations in the leather. When I first turn them on, I feel a cool breeze by my shoulders, then nothing after that. Also I noticed if I have the bottom cushion flatter than more of a bucket type of seat I get a little more cooling on my legs. I'm also 6'1", so your seating position may vary. Either way, the bottom gets cool and the back seems to get hotter after they have been on awhile.

I get cold air up at my shoulders/neck the first couple of minutes after turning the seat cooling on. It seems to fade away after the first minute or two. I'm pretty happy with how they work really.
You'd be even happier if they worked correctly. :D

If they arent working properly then yes, I may be happier. If they're working as designed, I'm happy (as posted). I certainly dont have the same issues others seem to be having (warm/hot seat backs).

The seat back is supposed to cool just like the seat cushion. Cool air is pushed out of fans and through the perforated leather. Air is not pulled into the perforations ... it blows outward.

At your shoulders and neck? Seriously? Man, if that's what it's supposed to do mine isn't working at all. I get kidneys, max.

It goes all the way up initially. After that it falls much lower. I have no idea what it is supposed to do, I can only comment on what it does. I'm a 6' 200lb guy sitting in the seat so I cant say what should happen.

I was wondering why the seat backs were not cooling. Peltier units work by cooling one side while the waste heat is dumped from the opposite side. If there is no piped hot air ducting out of the seat, the hot air will just mix with the intake for the cooled air. Eventually the hot air will overpower the cool...because no electrical device is ever 100% efficient. The design supposes that the cool air will be blown out through the seat perforations. The seat interior eventually will be much warmer than the cabin air. So the net effect is temporary seat cooling followed by an overheated seat.
