Hi everyone. I'm back with another issue. Can anyone shed light on this for me? I have a 2017 Mustang GT with the Stage II Whipple. I have the Whipple calibration and the 3.75 pulley. I haven't driven it much at all since the Whipple was installed. I finally solved my header lead pipe problem(kept me from driving) and programmed my engauge to monitor Spark,knockr,iat,ect,.......etc....
.....Then I took it out for test drive.
1st I noticed Spark fluctuated from1 to 4 at idle. When I pulled onto my street and started cruising at 25mph and then when I pulled out of my neiborhood and cruised at 45mpr and pretty much everything in between, Spark was up to 45*. Easy cruising was 41 to 45 constant. My trip was short, this freaked me out. Knock was at 0* to -0.98* From what I've read on here, this isn't good(spark total I mean.) Can someone help me with this?
Thanks in advance

You want help with your cruise timing being 40-45 deg at light load?

Thanks for the replies. Earlier in the day I was researching what to monitor on my ngauge and what each meant. I can't find the post at the moment, but I thought I read comments regarding timing over 15-17 was not good. I drive my car easy for the first time in a while and Bam! It's reading Spark 45. I went into worry mode and posted this. Could either of you explain what the timing should be - light load, heavy load? I'm on 93 octane.
Thanks

15-17 deg are wot numbers. Timing is always much higher at cruise. Ever heard of vacuum advance in old school distributors?

Thank you. I'll do that. I assume you mean positive Knock numbers. I'll definitely be looking. Thanks again

Negative spark KR is good. Means the computer is seeing negative knock.

Spark under light loads is fine at that many degrees. (My base 16pp file from Ford on 91 I would see 6° of KR and the computer just yanks it out).

If you aren't getting lots of KR at light load, I wouldn't worry about that aspect.

The big concern is lambda/AFR at idle/cruise. Your onboard display on your dash should always hunt for 14.08:1

Under wot is where I'd be most interested in seeing lambda, spark and kr readings.

Spark will just from 0-50 at light loads 30-45 when giving gas and will drop at wot from 15-21 depending in 91-93 with or with out Boostane/torco/ octanium or e85. Negative knock is good! Positive knock is bad but +1 or +2 can happen depending on load gear etc.

Hey Guys I have a 2016 GT Whipple car my car was on a Local Company Tune an I noticed high Positive Knock under light load in 5 or 6th gear +10 at one point. I would let off the gas then it would go back negative. My local Tuner told me to switch back to my Lund Tune to see if that helps. Been driving on it and as the knock isn't as high, it still does it at low RPMs but it is better, I do not hear anything abnormal and the car is running great. Thanks
