Man that is a lot of money for a wear part. I personally love my spec stage2+ hybrid. So far it has taken everything I have thrown at it, and has near stock drivability. I could wear it through 4 times for the price of those dual discs, not to mention its got to be way lighter....
I hear ya man, I barely drive my car, maybe 20 miles a week. So not too concerned on it being a wear item.

I would hope this clutch lasts me the time I own the car (usually 2-3 years per car).

I have had both RST and RXT in my S197 with 800 rwhp, I slipped the RST so I upgrade to the RXT. Both clutches had stock like driveability the only difference was the RXT was a little grabby at take off.

Thanks for the feedback. IM an idiot and would pay extra to not have that grabby-ness, but for all I know the Mantic will behave the same.

It only happened when the rpm was a little too low, easily adjustable with driving style. I personally feel that these MT82 failures even with the RXT clutch have a lot to do with the driver, the clutch dis engages and engages on the shifts so that is the time the gear set is getting shocked. Once in gear and power is applied if the transmission fails it's due to excessive torque exceeding what the gear set was designed to handle, if you break the tranny on the gear shift that is a direct result of shocking the gear set which can be controlled and minimized with the clutch pedal and shift speed. At the end of the day I ordered a RXT as my power goals exceed the RST, and I don't beat the shit out of my car but anything can happen if it breaks I will be forced to deal with it unfortunately.

My Mantic engages smoother than stock. It's not remotely grabby. I also have the ceramatallic version which is the more aggressive offering. I was willing to sacrifice a little, but was pleasantly surprised.

I read all of my Mantic reviews on the GM forums. They are pretty popular with that crowd and only recently started making Ford offerings, thus the limited info. But the way I figured it, Mantic will build their clutch to their quality standards no matter what type of car it's going in, so reading reviews on a GM forum is still a good source of info.

The $975 is organic full faced, rated at 800lb/ft. This is on par to the McLeod RST. It is not comparable to the RXT (solid hub, ceramic, 1000lb ft) nor the Mantic (sprung hub, ceramic, 1010lbft).

The 5.0L Force 10.5 Dual Disc 300 Series Clutch Kit is the closest in design to the Mantic, with a sprung hub and 900lb ft rating, but still uses organic full faced disc which I would argue will still fail under heavy shifting and heat. This retails at $1355

There is no ceramic with sprung hub option from Ram. Yes they have horsepower and torque ratings that cover all grounds, but I would be concerned running a full faced organic clutch past what they have them rated for.

The next step up from the Force 10.5 is their Force 10.5N but that uses 900 series clutches, which are solid hub. Its also close to $1500 and rated at 1300hp, I believe they recommend converting to their hydraulics (no idea on price for that)

It should also be worth noting that clutch ratings are at the flywheel not the rear wheels.

I think the Force 10.5N are hybrid, at least according to this ebay ad :

"All 900 Series discs use the high strength eight spring hub and Poly-coil springs for extreme dampening capabilities. This clutch disc is recommended for severe duty street and strip applications where driveability is not the highest concern.

Centerforce DYAD Clutch Kit maybe similar

High torque capacity up to 1300 ft/lbs at the flywheel
Fully dampened clutch system developed for vehicles with extreme power levels
Smooth engagement and light pedal effort

Sprung Hub Discs. Centerforce Clutches were engineered with sprung hub disc centers. A sprung hub helps dampen gear rattle and allows for smoother engagement with light pedal effort. This not only provides excellent driver control, but increases the longevity of your Mustang's transmission; when compared to standard rigid center hub discs.
