I have installed a whipple stage 2 to a UK car. The whipple has been in about 1500 miles and the car has covered 6500
For the first time today I noticed when warm and idling a sort of rattling sound almost like you would expect from a pump with a dodgy bearing. I used a mechanic stethoscope to check noise along the top of the SC body and there was no discernable difference between back and front, if anyting the noise is more front end. Pulleys seem tight, and when using the scope prong on the front of the engine block i didnt pick up any rattling, which makes me think the noise is coming from the SC housing and not the pulleys. It goes when revved and i dont notice it yet at cold and on choke. I have read the SC can rattle a little but any thoughts from those in the know would be great. I can count on 2 hands the number of whipples fitted over here, so views from experts would be great. Thing still pulls like a train !!

Sounds normal for a whipple.

I had a chirp or ticking sound after about 1k miles after installation only at cold start up. Fixed via whipples instuctions. Does yours sound like the above video?

Can you post or PM me those instructions? Mine does the same chirping when cold.

I am interested as well. Mine has also started chirping. Guess a call to Whipple is in order.

Can you elaborate “fixed by Whipple instructions”...?

Its not a click, in this video you can hear a rattle. Its been back to the fitters who are convinced its a rattly bearing at the rear of the SC where the drive pulley turns the rotors. Its a sealed unit so its being sent back back to USA from UK which is a right pain in the rear but we think we know what it is ! THe noise is more notable at the end of the video, which is appalling quality !

Did this get fixed? I just got mine installed and whipple is saying it should go away within 100-200 miles

What does it sound like in the cabin?
There’s too much external noise coming from injectors etc to be able to isolate the normal Whipple rattle from belt noise etc

this is a better video
Others might have better ideas but from what I understand of the Gen 3 it has a conformal coating on the rotors. I’d assume it would take a while for that to wear-in properly.
Outside of that, there’s the traditional Whipple rattle which seems to be more obvious to me from inside my car. I’m the only person who notices it though, passengers just accept it as part of the standard noise I guess
