Definitely man. I'm going to get some materials today. Wife is home to watch the pup so I can get some time to do mockups. I'll actually get it all done once I get a new filter so I'm not struggling to fit and fit and fit it all together lol.
Alright LMK if you need some help. Call or text if needed 207 231 4112

Thanks! I still got your number. Might shoot you a text for a couple dimensions if I can't get them myself

Zuki Dan thanks for posting your pics, looks like a really I nice job my friend. Now 2 things for me post a pic of your MAF orientation since you say you turned it. Also could you get a really good hot reading on your intake like get the engine heat soaked and then Park for 5 minutes after a good solid cruise basically like pulling of a Hwy from 50 mph. Then get a temp reading and time how long and at what temp it rises to over ambient.
Roh92cp I didn't happen to get a picture of the rotated MAF today. I will try to get that for you tomorrow after work and get it posted. I didn't realize until after I took the installed picture that the MAF housing was out of frame. The metal plate the bolts to the air filter box cannot be rotated but the MAF housing can be rotated and bolted back to the filter flange. The MAF extension that was provided with the Whipple kit is just long enough to reach the new location and now it is out of sight.

I did quite a bit of driving around today including stop and go driving ambient temps in the low to mid 50's. While moving the IAT1 temp was never more then 3-5 degrees above ambient. Even stopping and leaving it running I never saw the IAT1 temp climb over 10 degrees above ambient. That is being stopped for 10-15 minutes with the engine running. I would say this mod has made a significant difference in the heat soak of the box and the intake can only pull air from the Velossa tech scoop in front of the car. I also didn't insulate my intake tube like you have so your results should be even better!

I also pulled my sound tube from the box I had my stock intake in. I need to find a suitable tube to connect it to the air box. I guess it is a good thing I haven't trashed it.

Zuki I'm glad to hear the closed and insulated air box and inlet is working well and keeping inlet temps down. I suspect as the weather warms we will see larger spread from ambient to inlet. No doubt this is having a significant effect on inlet air and in the end will result in lower post blower temps as well.

Get that sound tube in, becuase you will love your car all over again. Make sure you remove the foam from the sound tube, should be 2 pieces. Blow through it to make sure. Also remove the pedal and cut insulation fro around the hole. From there it will be easier to pull the rubber grommet into the firewall from the sound tube.

Here are the pics from rotating the MAF housing.

I've seen this before and Whipple doesn't recommend changing the location of the MAF. It wouldn't seem like it matters but clocking a MAF can change the air flow across the MAF sensor. These systems with inlet length, size and box design all have an airflow architecture. Different locations of the MAF sensor in its flow path can result in different MAF signal readings becuase the air flow speed can change from one side to another due to box design and radius before the MAF. It may not be noticeable, but it's not advised by Whipple.

I'm just seconding this statement. This also goes along with changing the air filter. Volumetric efficiency changes with a different filter and must be tested by Whipple with their map which they are working on.
