Less than a week old kit started having this chrip on startup. Goes away after a while. Guy on Facebook says it’s a bad belt?!? Normal or something to be concerned about?

Did you follow the belt alignment instructions?

Go to our website and download the instructions for installing new tensioner. Either the idler plate stands are mixed up or something is misaligned. You can loosen the sc assembly and front plate, if it’s not the stands, that will most likely stop it. You can also inspect the belt, for it to be bad it would have to have a big edge hanging off of it.

More than likely a misaligned pulley. Could be the belt too. Not a huge deal, just check pulley alignment. Check out this thread and read Whipple SC replies. (which is also a few threads down in this section)

Any chance you could please link me? I couldn’t find them on your website? Thank you!

I have the rpm belt and when I set the tension tight I didn't have this. I loosened it up some as a previous post states rpm belts break under heavy tentsion.... and now I have the same thing. Goes away in about 5 minutes or so...

Is the belt that comes with a whipple kit the RPM belt? Thanks

Tension does not break RPM belts, whipping back and forth does. Reapply tension like originally instructed.

Yes, that's in the ideal range.
Thank you. I added the 10 rib system to my kit and it didn't have specific instructions for belt tension, so if you want to provide more insight, I would appreciate it.

My Kenne Bell is set about 85 percent and has a chirp to it until it gets warm. Laser aligned the pulleys and I figured it's just the nature of the belt material. The fleet belts are quiet but the rpm belt is better for the application.
