All,
First off, sorry if this gets posted in the wrong area, I am new to posting here.
About the car: 2015 5.0 base model, non premium, non PP, 6 speed mt, just over 32k miles.
I just noticed a whining noise that seems to come from the front of the vehicle or engine compartment under acceleration (not specific to hard acceleration). This seems to happen mostly in 3rd/4th gear and starts between 2500-3k RPM, mainly at 45-50 mph and a little higher. But I have noticed it in 3rd gear at 25 mph. 5th/6th I'm not hearing it, but if I slow to 40-50 mph and down shift to 3rd or 4th, there it is again. The pitch of the noise doesn't seem to vary greatly, and it is somewhat subtle. Not sure if it's always been there and I've just noticed it. Caught my attention, so I think it's new.
Strange thing is that it seems to happen only after driving the car for about 15-20 miles. I do not notice the sound during highway driving.
As these cars have electronic power steering, obviously it isn't a ps pump low on fluid. Any idea what this could be?
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any input.
