Yeah but he is in Florida

You know, the PCM can be reprogrammed so the speedo/odometer read accurately when you change the tire size...just thought I'd put that one out there
And we don't usually bother with stuff like that.

"But officer, I couldn't have been doing 100mph. The dial only goes to 70 and I was doing 50 and staying out of the red arc."

My Waze speed is within 1 mph with the gauge and cruise control setting.

But officer, I couldn't have been doing 100 mph. I've only been driving for 30 minutes.

Ford would do everyone a favor by just not displaying the cruise control set point speed. It's not needed, doesn't provide any useful information and would stop discussions like this.

I find it useful. When speed limits change, I speed up or slow down by changing the cruise setting. I don't trust and don't want to be counting individual taps. Just hold the button until you see the target speed. Also, with adaptive cruise you may be going a significantly lower speed than you set due to traffic, so it is a reminder of what the setting is.

The speedometer appears off from the drivers POV in the new stangs. Move your head to the right and up until you are dead center with it and you will find it actually matches the digital read out.

I speed up and slow down as speed limits change without counting taps too and still find no need for the set point display. I have two other cars that just tell you if it's on, off and engaged that's all you need.

Didn't think about adaptive cruise I guess it would be useful there, but it's not an option I find compelling enough to pay the asking price so I have no experience.

Right after I got my GT, I tested the cruise control to see how close the speedometer was to the setting that shows on the Information Display. Set the cruise control to 70 MPH (showing on the ID) and the car settle in. Looked straight into the speedometer (no parallax), and the needle looked to be right on the 70 MPH tick mark. Works good.

Not sure about that. I've seen my cruise control cause the car to downshift coming down some hills to keep the set speed.

the cruise control only limits speed induced by the engine not gravity...
Not true. If I rapidly lower the cruise control in my manual trans 2016 GT, it will use the brakes fairly aggressively. I don't allow it but believe an unbelted passenger would need to brace themself with their hand. And going down a steep hill, the brakes are clearly used because if you turn cruise off and don't touch the gas pedal the car will speed up. Now I have adaptive cruise but everything I said is true in my Cadillac with regular cruise. So its a common thing.

Would have to test that out on an S550 with manual transmission and no adaptive cruise control to see if it does the same or not.

Makes sense, since there is no alternative (downshifting) to brakes with the manual transmission.
