I used to always go to a Goodyear shop in Monterey. But they told me when I called for the first time after buying the mustang. That only Ford can perform alignments. If the car has the self centering tech.

Were they correct and I can only go to a Ford dealer? Or do you take it to non-dealers with specific machines? Car has the self driving and centering tech 401A Premium PP1. W/ Safety package

Just wondering. Thanks for your time for reading.

Just bought Camber bolts and I'm going to be adding them before I take it to a shop. For my next alignment.

I am pretty sure that a third party can do the alignment. To be sure, you can call Joe at Custom Alignment in Mountain View (LINK). His shop is one of the best in the bay area and he knows Mustangs in and out (and is on a professional Mustang racing team). Also, if you want to modify your suspension or add additional goodies, this is the place, but be sure to have a good balance on your credit card . . .

I go to a local shop that specializes in European cars. Their alignment guy is a guru that will do whatever you need. Factory alignment, track alignment. So the line that only Ford can do it is BS...

They are probably referring to the calibration needed after the alignment is adjusted. Sometimes independent shops are slow to get the software and equipment necessary to do the calibrations.

WOW! Thanks for this. I'm near San Jose now. So I am sure to give them a call. Hopefully they can throw on the front camber bolt much cheaper than the dealer was offering.

wOOF $190 for each end. But I bet its worth it. I wonder if they can try and locate a possible leak source for some coolant I seem to be losing very very slowly.

Custom Alignment (LINK) for suspension/alignment/tires/brakes that you want/need done right AND with attention to detail (eg, especially if tracking, or mustang specific, etc.) -- but be sure to have a good balance on your credit card!

For routine repair and diagnosis of our Mustangs, I'm still looking!

I've tried several, but nothing that matches Yarnell's in Mountain View (LINK - the BEST of my personal experience), but foreign cars only ☹. All our Toyotas go there . . .

I'm going to give Advanced Auto Repair in Mountain View (LINK) a try for a clutch repair. I HIGHLY recommend them for auto body work if on a budget (and we have a lot of experience with them in that category - story for another day . . .). This will be the first time trying them for repair work. We will see . . .

I'm also thinking of giving Art Stange in Mountain View a try for the next diagnosis/repair (LINK). They come recommended from a friend, but no personal experience. They do have expertise with older cars.

I've also tried a several other shops, but nothing yet that comes close to Yarnell's -- that is the bar!
