2019 Base GT Purchase Options

AGM2018

Good afternoon fellow Mustang aficionados! With the emergence of 0% APR for 72 months, I am finally going to purchase a GT. I have narrowed my choices down to two cars; the final "Out-The-Door and On-The-Road" price between the two is: $101.05...so, essentially the same price.

Car 1: 19 Base GT; Velocity Blue, 301A Package, enhanced security package, 10 speed Automatic Transmission, 3.55 limited slip axle, active valve performance exhaust and spoiler delete.

Car 2: 19 Base GT; Velocity Blue, 301A Package, 10 speed automatic transmission, Black Accent Package, 3.15 limited slip axle, active valve performance exhaust and spoiler delete.

Car one has the 3.55 limited slip axle which, in my opinion, I believe should be the standard gear for the 10 Speed automatic transmission; but, it does have 18 inch wheels, which would I replace almost immediately...probably at a cost of at/around $2,000 with a nice set of wheels and Michelin AS3 all season tires.

Car two comes factory equipped with 19 inch wheels (although I am not crazy about black rims) but does not have the 3.55 limited slip axle. I am also not a fan of the mandatory black roof requirement on the Black Accent Package...but, it does (again, in my opinion) look nice on the Velocity Blue color.

I am "leaning" towards purchasing Car one. Any opinions? And yes, I know ultimately it is my choice, as I will be driving and paying for it. I am solely curious as to opinions on which car fellow mustang enthusiasts would choose...and why. Thanks in advance for your opinions and comments.

Have you test driven both cars?

Car #1. You can live without the Black Accent Package and you plan on changing the wheels anyway. You do want the 3.55 gears (wish I had them on my GT/CS). Easy, Peasy!

I have test driven Car One (it is at my local dealer). I have driven a 19 base GT with 3.15 gears, without the Black Accent Package. I "presume" the car with the 19 inch tires (included on the Black Accent Package) may handle and/or have a bit better traction than the 19 base with 18 inch tires...but, it will drive/accelerate in the same manner with the 3.15 limited slip axle. To be honest. I can tell a small difference in initial "getting off the line" acceleration with the 3.55 limited slip; but, once both were on the interstate, the "Seat of the Pants" difference feel was negligible.

Car one would be my choice. Better gearing and I'm not a fan of the 19" black accent package wheels.

My bad, didn't stop to ask if you are going to step up to 19's if you buy car #1? Would be a good choice as you can upgrade from the OEM tires. That would be a win-win.

Get the one with the 3.15 rear end. You’ll thank yourself down the road.

What are your goals as far as future modifications?
I personally would go car 1. I like the A10 with 3:55.

A10 plus 3.55 w/ E85 tune here. Car is very peppy at all rpms. I wanted the wheels, suspension, larger radiator, brembo brakes, and torsen iron differential off the get go and very happy. Easy 11 second car even with the heavier non drag setup. Good luck.
