So looking at a few intake and tune kits that are claiming 40hp increase. If that's 40hp at the crank, that would take it up to 475hp. Without using any forced induction, what do you think it would take to hit the 500hp mark? Now I 'm not talking 500 at the wheel, but increasing the 435 bhp rating from Ford to 500 bhp. Also, has anyone pulled the heads and had them ported? Pulled the engine and had it balanced and blueprinted? Just curious.

CAI, long tubes, and a tune will get you around 450 at the wheels.

When it comes to automotive performance parts bigger numbers equate to more sales. So, unless they specifically say wheel HP you can bet that it's at the crank. They likely measured wheel HP but applied a very aggresive fudge factor to convert to crank HP. Also, when you see HP claims expressed as; "up to x HP increase" that means they got that on some application not necessarily yours. Remember a 2% increase on a 400HP engine is 8 HP but it's 4 HP on a 200 HP engine. The adds will quote the 400 HP engine increase and imply your 200 HP will see that increase.

Livernois cams will get you there but a blower is more cost effective. That whine too.
