I haven't seen much evidence here that the ECU will add more timing for more power with 91/ 93 octane. If it did, then wouldn't that cancel out much of the benefit of an aftermarket 91/93 engine tune ?
Again, you can't compare peak to peak. Yes maybe there is probably 1% difference at peak but what about mid range rpm?
It's not first time when auto manufactures detune a little bit at higher rpm to protect engine even running on premium gas.
Here is the dyno graph of a 2011 Coyote between regular and premium.

Affordability is probably not an issue with most people here. It's "waste" that people are concerned with. Why spend an extra $400/yr on gas when all you do is drive to work and back? ...
Owners Manual recommends 87 octane for all three engines, including the 2.3 EB. They recommend higher octane for "severe duty such as trailer tow". I assume that doesn't apply to commuters.

It costs an extra $5 a fill to use 93 vs 87 which is not a huge deal. Not sure why it's not affordable. Mines running an aggressive tune so I run 93 only.
It's more like $10-12 per tank where I live in NC. I think NC have one of the higher gas tax in the country.
Kinda adds up in long run. Do I really need 93 to scoot around in the city?
If I was taking my car to the track, I would absolutely use 93+

Filled up this morning, and 93 here is $0.75 more per gallon. If you don't drive much, no big deal for the extra expense. If you're driving a lot and filling up more than once a week, it adds up. If you're doing a lot of stop/go and highway only driving, and not spirited, what's the point?

I do almost only highway but I'm using 93

91 is $.20 higher than 87 here. So only $2-3 difference per tank. Zero 93 available in my area.

Lucky you! 89 is about that much more than 87 here. I've never understood why there isn't just 87, 90 and 93...too much logic to have it evenly spaced :headbonk:

Use 91 on both my car and my bike. I want the most of my vehicles. Maybe if I was broke or still in the Marines making shit wages I would get 87.

Also, the highest gas prices are in Cali, NY, Hawaii.

Haven't replied before, but been  with this thread. It's been quite entertaining.

My GT is a play toy, although I do drive it to work sometimes. I try to run it hard as much as possible. I use 93.

Equating this to being broke is a dead argument.

I used 91 for 3,000km and then switched to 87 and traveled 20,000km since then.
What difference did you see if any?

Interesting... I have been running 87 in mine. It went 12.89 @ 112mph last night, stock 6spd manual. Wonder if it would pick up on 93?

Trap probably would be similar but I bet you'd pick up a tenth or two.
