Yeah - I wouldn't push my 5.4 past 6400 (limit set in the tune). Just not worth the risk. Took a few weeks to adjust my shifting to the Voodoo's 8250 redline!
Id like to see Ford make a mustang st to sit in between the ecoboost and the gt

3.0 out of the explore st please

Isn't that engine the Aluminator?
pretty Much the only difference is the cobra jet intake isn’t carb legal and wouldn’t fit under the hood, they tried making a smaller cobra jet intake for the gt350 in the beginning but scrapped the intake for what we now have

a more realistic idea would be to take the gen 3 coyote and give it the 94mm stroke of the gt350 and make a 5.2 out of it. 520hp wouldn’t be very hard to get

imo there needs to be some sort of a drag pak trim. once was option type of thing, and with dodge doing all what they can for the drag racing side of things i think ford should step into that game as well beyond just the cobra jet.

that wouldn’t be a bad idea, i still think the 3.0 ecoboost would be a great engine to add to the lineup because the 2.3 needs more balls and the coyote needs to get as close to the gt350 “hp wise” for the s650

IMO

Start with a PP2 car.

Add 3.5L EB with about 500HP/500TQ.

DCT out of GT500.

Call it the GTEB500.

imo its going to either be never or far off before you see an EB V6 in a mustang especially something like the 3.5 or 2.7. I think when that happens youll see the death of the V8

I have the 2.7 in my F150 - it is a beast of a motor for its size. If these are added to the lineup the v8 will need to step up its game - or just be kept around for sound (ignoring supercharged options)

my f150 is also a 2.7, what most dont know is that it was the first real purpose built EB ford did. it can take ALOT of power

I feel like HI-Po 2.3T should have been just 1 package, not 1 then a separate handling package, and just called ST. That would have been more in line with the OTHER ST trims Ford has had. Or heck, called the new Mach1 a GT Hi-Po... it's the same thing, bit better engine with optional better handling kit. Either way would have kept naming/branding easier. Non-Mustangs get the ST name, Mustangs get the Hi-Po name. Done.

Save Mach1/Boss titles for when there is an actual engine change over the GT, like a NA 5.2 CP engine or a very reworked 5.0.

Then since the 2.3T can't make 460HP, use a tuned version of the 3.0T v6 with a solid handling package and call that the SVO. That way it's a "modern" SVO using a turbo smaller engine with power like the V8 that also handles well. It's not a 2.3T but in every other regard it's a clear callback to the original SVO. I honestly don't think that ford can use the 2.3T and properly have an SVO without it looking like they are just trying to capitalize on the name. With 0 weight behind it. It would have to use a biggest EB, maybe a 3.3T if they wanted to put that much effort into it.

Or Boss 429, kinda same thing.

And don't forget:
Cobra Jet
Cobra

And given the imagination we have seen before:
PP3
PP4
PP5

And don't forget the Mach-E inspired...
Mustang F150
Mustang Expedition
Mustang Explorer
Mustang Bronco

SVO is a good one, I guess we will need a HO & LX as well.

Cobra Jet has been back for a while and they have sold Cobra Jet parts for the GT500's, but an actual Cobra Jet package for the GT's and GT500's would be cool. I wondered fro a while why the GT500 didnt just have a Cobra Jet package when they sold some CJ branded parts via Ford Racing.

That said I don't get why there is just no Ford Performance option you can get, that just comes with all current Ford Performance parts pre-installed. Ford did that with the freaking Escort even. in 1999 and 2000 they made 2099 Escort ZX2 S/R's that came with almost every Ford Racing part pre-installed at the factory. All they didn't get was the smaller Crank pulley and the Ford Racing plug wires because both parts came out after the model was nailed out in advertising. It came with an upgraded clutch, ecu, springs/struts, intake tube, shifter, disc brakes. It wasn't just some small decal/appearance package.

The 5.8 (and 5.4 that came before it) were really truck engines (old ford modular). They were kind of dogs without the supercharger. Some of that could be fixed with headers and compression ratio, but they weren't the greatest as NA engines. The Coyote (while being another variant of the modular - but a bigger variant), was a huge step up from the 5.4/5.8.
5.4L Triton 3-valve was trash!
