I have a 2017 Mustang Gt Auto with a Whipple Stage 2 Kit with Whipple Tune.
Best time 10.83 132MPH
Would it be worth it to buy a Lund after market tune if I want to improve my 1/4 mile times?

What kind of DA was that run in? Rear tire? Suspension mods?

Is that a Gen 3 or Gen 4? I would just stay with the whipple tune unless you go to the track alot and want a better 1/4 time.

There has to be a lot more in that car on that setup with a better tune. my 13 GT was night and day going from the Roush tune to a VMP tune. Like 12.35 best to 11.49 best in a stick shift car with stock suspension and MT ET street S/S's. Going to an auto in a 14 GT that package with upper/lowers, relo brackets, lakewood 50/50 rears and and drag springs (all bmr suspension parts) and the same wheels you are running the car ran 10.82@131 best in 1400DA. Those were all on 93 and no helper additives and full weight cars with the spare in the trunk.

Not trying to one up you but show you that IMHO you would pick up a lot by going to a solid tune by one of the big hitters like Lund. You have a nice setup and the same mods I have waiting to go on my 17 aside from the shocks in the back. I did pick up the lower spherical bearings which I have to have pressed in and vert. links as well at Kelly's suggestion. Get a good tune on that car and you should pick up 3-4 tenths easy I would think if the Whipple tune is as lazy as the Roush tune was. I would imagine WHipple woudl be a little more aggressive than the Roush tune or I would think you would see even more. I'm just hoping for a nice easy 10.7X on my setup putting 630 to the ground and hopefully a 10.6X when we get the WOT shift points hitting right at 7500. Right now it shifts at 7000 so we can sneak up on it.

Short answer, a lot

Lund will send revisions based on datalogs to ensure the tune is spot on. Trans tuning, shift points, timing, fuel, part throttle drivability.

The Whipple tune is safe, and meant to work for everyone.

I totally agree that a very good aftermarket tune would help, but the shit track that day was pretty tricky.Just Saying
Two 2016 Dodge Hellcat were running 10.60
One Dodge Demon was running 10.20
My 2017 Mustang was running 10.80

Bypass logic.

And the shift points

If you Rev it higher you hold a higher average horsepower through the 1320’

I guess I should have added I was cutting 1.6x 60's as well. Not the 1.4x and 1.3x like the guys I hang with do, but not 2.0s either. Crappy track prep is no fun. The track owner where we run thinks putting down prep with a bug sprayer 30 feet out in the groove of both lanes is prepping. Drag and prep? WTH is that?

Any canned tune whether it’s Whipple, ROUSH, Edelbrock, etc is going to leave a lot of performance on the table vs a custom tune from PBD, VMP, Lund or any other big tuners. If you want better performance go custom tune route.
