I was able to retrieve my custom enclosure, sub, and amp from my previous car before I turned it over to insurance. It's just still too hot outside to want to run power wires and figure out a line out converter to tie into the factory stereo. For now I did a quick upgrade to the stock shaker setup. A lot of writeups use shallow subs to avoid needing a spacer or modifying the stock enclosure. Those cost 3-4x more than this setup though.

Picked up this Skar Audio IX-8 D2, a 3/4" spacer, and some polyfil for just over $50.

Stock pattern was 6 holes and new sub was 8, so I just countersunk holes in the spacer ring and used factory screws to attach it.

Rotated the sub a bit so none of the holes lined up then secured the sub to the spacer ring with wood screws.

At lower volume it sounds pretty good. I'll let it break in for a couple days before I really crank it up.

After 39k miles and 15 track days, I replaced my spark plugs today. I went with a set of NGK 6509 and gapped them at .049”

Here are the gaps I measured from the factory plugs I removed 😳

Definitely explains some of the poor performance I was experiencing after my last track day.

CylinderGap
#1.056”
#2.058”
#3.056”
#4.056”
#5.054”
#6.060”
#7.056”
#8.058”

That's not too bad honestly as far as gap. When I did mine at 20k, most were up to .054 or .055. The gap is set from the plug factory, but some are more on point than others. The engine probably isn't going to care until you're past .070. But still, these engines are harder on plugs than I imagined they would be.

The real question for me is why all of yours are so black, mine didn't look like that. Mine came out looking perfect. If I had to guess, you're burning some oil on those track days, or your tune is running ultra rich (which probably isn't a bad thing on track). I wonder what your piston crowns look like.

Washed it. Afterwards, finally put in the Husky all weather floor mats that I had sitting around for a month. (really wanted these especially to have floor mats in the back seat.)
Afterwards, took a picture & appreciated the fact I own this piece of machinery on wheels.

Upgraded front brakes: Bullitt Brembo calipers, new rotors, stainless steels lines, and dust shields.

Also added some Steeda STH goodies:
  • poly vertical links (bought from a member here)
  • bushing support
  • alignment kit
Never understood what suspension compliance meant until actually having a suspension that feels compliant... all the "floaty-ness" in the rear is gone. Dips and bumps in the road no longer feel bouncy and exaggerated. Plus, the car stays tight and planted through the curves. Probably no need to do the IRS braces, but we'll see.

It drives incredibly well now, and the brakes look awesome!

Cleaned her up, courtesy of @DFB5.0 recommendations (and some that aren't).
