I was able to retrieve my custom enclosure, sub, and amp from my previous car before I turned it over to insurance. It's just still too hot outside to want to run power wires and figure out a line out converter to tie into the factory stereo. For now I did a quick upgrade to the stock shaker setup. A lot of writeups use shallow subs to avoid needing a spacer or modifying the stock enclosure. Those cost 3-4x more than this setup though.
Picked up this Skar Audio IX-8 D2, a 3/4" spacer, and some polyfil for just over $50.
Stock pattern was 6 holes and new sub was 8, so I just countersunk holes in the spacer ring and used factory screws to attach it.
Rotated the sub a bit so none of the holes lined up then secured the sub to the spacer ring with wood screws.
At lower volume it sounds pretty good. I'll let it break in for a couple days before I really crank it up.
