Upper and lower grille trimming. Liberating?

Yup.
Big balls on this one. You went all in!

What's up with the mansion in the background?

Went for a drive tonight. Little over 1 1/2 years of ownership and this car still puts a :D on my face. Absolutely love this engine and it's linear pull to redline!

What did I do to my Shelby today? Well, I put the finishing touches on my garage-made license plate bracket.

I finally decided that it was time to figure out something for a front license plate bracket since here in Texas where it is required by law. I didn't see any need to draw more attention to the car from the local "men in blue" so I set out looking for a solution. After a quick internet search, I didn't find any options that I was thrilled about, so I took it upon myself to make my own bracket.

After reviewing the front end, I decided that the best solution was to fabricate a bracket that would install in the lower "egg crate" grill below the front bumper. I came up with a design that would let me install the bracket without removing the grill which appeared to be too time consuming for this project.

I ended up with two 12" bracket bars, one bracket with T-nuts that was placed behind the egg crate grill and another bracket that was fit to the outside of the grill which bolted to the inner bracket. This outer bracket also holds the two arms that bolt to the license plate. I also placed rubber weatherstrip on both brackets to the side the touches the grill. The inner bracket was made wide enough that when turned sideways, it fit through the opening in one of the grill holes. I used tie straps through the grill like a "lasso" to direct it into alignment inside the grill. During installation, I had to be careful that it didn't fall in behind the grill. I also tied a strap to the last hole just in case the inner bracket got away from me and fell out of reach. Once installed, and secured by the three bolts, the tie straps were cut and removed. (Note - the long bolt in the second photo was only used to align the inner bracket and was eventually replaced with a shorter bolt.)

I just bought a bunch of LED lights for the interior and reverse lights. I also got the passenger side oil catch can. I also pulled the trigger Schroth QuickFit Pro Red 4 point seat harnesses. I'm about to order a DSS carbon fiber driveshaft and a Shelby transmission cooler scope. It's been a good day for the GT350R...lol

I dunno if the scope is worth the money for you, just and FYI. Others might be able to give you more info. Congrats on the R!

Just a slightly oversize dog house.

Got the GT350 out today for a nice cruise... we've been having a lot of rain, so I've kept it in the garage over the last week and a half. Felt good to stretch her legs out!

Planning on installing the Steeda Jacking Rails this weekend.

Congrats on the install and the rims look great. It'll be nice to have the trans match the performance of the rest of the car.

GT350 welcomed with open arms at a PCA event.

A lot of nice cars, and people. A good amount if interest in the GT350, especially by the 2 local Police officers...both very cool. I'm wearing my go to MGW T-shirt. Pictures taken by one of my brothers, who showed his mint '87 944.

I don't have any sort of dedicated thread so I'll share a few things I just finished up. And please excuse my potato droid photos. I'll pull out my real camera gear when I finally hit the road again.

Since I pulled the front fascia, belly pan and splitter, now was a convenient time to finally switch oil cooler lines to the latest assembly. Letting a dealer do this is like playing Russian roulette and as such I gladly paid for it.

I might do some custom billet badging so I pulled the front one off. Easy to do when the fascia isn't in place.

After dimensioning I spent some time in Solidworks sketching. I have a custom font I'm going to use but didn't have it in place when I rendered the following shot. I also did a quick and easy on some of the extrude cuts, hence why the snake's ribs differ a little than the OEM badge. I'll spend more time and finish it when I can.

I trimmed out an additional opening in the grille "block-off plate" to allow a little more airflow to the filter/air box. Know which opening it is? Fodder for another thread and I'll report back on the results later.

Part of the plan was to add the R model splitter now too. I flipped over both a regular and R splitter, placing the regular version on top with the holes all lined up. You can see the added girth of the R pretty clearly. I also added a few "splitter savers" from ZL1 Add Ons in strategic places once the splitter was mounted.

I finished gusseting the bracket for a center mounted, front tow hook. I could have lightweighted it a bit but didn't at this time. Slathered in POR-15 gloss black...

The front leg of the mount was left flat and not radiused because I want to use it as the anchor point for a minimalist front license plate bracket. So if you look closely you can see two threaded 5/16" holes on it's face.

Is there a way to tell visually that one has the latest oil cooler lines?
