I learned my lesson on my S197 with 19s. For some reason 19s are never in stock at major car repair retailers/tire shops and are always super expensive to the point they're almost the same price as a 20.

Went 20s this time for a more common size.

That depends on the actual size. You can always change from factory but the 255/40/19s are much more common and have a much larger offering than the 265/35/20s. I was set on the 20s until I researched the tire offering. I am sure it will improve in the future though. I would also caution looking for any performance tire model and size in a Sears type of environment. I do agree that 19s are generally more expensive than 20s.

Kam Highway H1, H2, H3 are nice compared to some of the roads I drive on here in SD. Camino Del Norte has fkn bomb crater size holes in it

I have an American Muscle PP replica front wheel with a stock size tire (255) mounted on it, and it fits the spare tire recess snugly. It sticks up from the trunk floor about 3" or so when in the recess.

More details on this please! I see that you have a GTPP. I've been looking for a spare that can fit in the spare wheel well in the trunk.

Does the trunk liner fit "good enough"? Do you have pics? It fit over the brembos with no problem? No spacers required?

Fits the Brembos, no spacers. I haven't taken any pics....

As for the trunk liner, I just have mine sitting on top of the tire at the moment, so it's raised up above the rest of the trunk floor (looks a little silly, but I don't spend much time in there ;) ). I'm pondering cutting my liner so the tire pokes through it and it otherwise fits flush with the trunk floor as original, but it hasn't been a real priority. Probably a winter project....

Kam highway going from Pearl Harbor to Waipahu and then Farrington from Waipahu to old Ewa Beach is absolutely covered in steel plates and huge potholes from the stupid rail construction.

if you don't mind, please take a pic of how it looks in the trunk. i'd rather have a trunk liner that doesn't fit perfectly than to have no spare tire. i just want to have an idea on how bad it looks.

That blows, man. My tires were near bald and I didn't bother with replacements until the literal nail in the coffin forced me to order some online. One of the worst feelings when you've got plenty of tire left though.

Yeah I just wanna make these last as long as I can. I don't do any heavy spirited driving or burnouts so I'm just depending on rotations and alignments .

Hopefully you get the idea from the potato pics, the lighting isn't the best in my shop for pics inside a trunk and my phone didn't want to flash.....

Distance from the trunk floor to the top of the liner when it's on the tire is exactly 3". I think I'll get another liner this winter and cut it to slip over the spare, could look pretty neat IMO. Regardless, it's better than no spare.....

With the tire patched, i drove over to the local dealer. Turns out they don't even have it in stock, and they wanted $314 per tire!! Tire Rack is $261 for the same Pirellis, and the dealer can't even match them because they said that price is below their cost! And no one else on the island carries Pirelli, especially that particular size (255/40/ZR19)

Three things i learned from this experience:

1) The air pump is utter shit. Its useless. Better off ordering a spare set (if your car isn't the GT with PP) and ford needs to know about this.

2) Finding tires in this size is very hard as its an odd size

3) the dealer marks the tire prices up very high.


Well, at least its patched and it'll hold for now. Ill probably just wait till i move to replace the tire.

Tire Rack shows a Pirelli that a lot of people have been mistaking for a direct replacement tire, but it's not the same one. Make sure you're looking at an exact replacement. I can't speak for your dealer, but most that I know do not have large mark-ups on tires. Tires never really have a whole lot of mark up in them...
