Tire Rack shows a Pirelli that a lot of people have been mistaking for a direct replacement tire, but it's not the same one. Make sure you're looking at an exact replacement. I can't speak for your dealer, but most that I know do not have large mark-ups on tires. Tires never really have a whole lot of mark up in them...

The one I saw was 255/40/ZR19 96Y and it stated original equipment. Dealer was asking $314 per tire, and tire rack had it for $261 per tire. Dealer told me tire rack price was below dealer cost.

Hopefully you get the idea from the potato pics, the lighting isn't the best in my shop for pics inside a trunk and my phone didn't want to flash.....

Distance from the trunk floor to the top of the liner when it's on the tire is exactly 3". I think I'll get another liner this winter and cut it to slip over the spare, could look pretty neat IMO. Regardless, it's better than no spare.....

the better solution might be just getting the ford spare tire kit, and a wheel spacer.

OEM spare tire will fit the rear if you get a rear flat, and if you get a front flat, put the spare on a rear wheel, and mount the rear wheel temporarily up front with a spacer.

Is it possible to just order the Ford spare tire and rim for a none PP car, were it will fit where the spare tire goes, And also just ordered a wheel spacer so it will work, on a PP car to use for your spare if you have a flat tire, I'm just curious it's hard for me to think, but I was trying..... Ha! :shrug:

that should work for every s550 except for the GTPP due to front brembo clearance, and for some reason the 20" wheel models wont allow you to add that as an option, not sure why.

The OEM spare is a 18" tire. I bought it and I have the 20" foundry wheels. If I get a flat on a rear I'll have to take a good tire from the front to put on the back and put the spare on the front. I read on here that different tire sized can damage the rear diff because it's a limited slip.

I have an American Muscle PP replica front wheel with a stock size tire (255) mounted on it, and it fits the spare tire recess snugly. It sticks up from the trunk floor about 3" or so when in the recess.

I just thought about this. What about a 19x8 wheel as a spare? How far over the well would it stick out compared to your 19x9 with a 255?

as long as the circumference of the tire is roughly the same, it should be fine for short distances. if your front 20" tire is the same circumference as your rear, there's no need to swap

It's a 20" wheel and 18" wheel, not overall diameter with tire. The sidewall is taller on an 18" than a 20"

Even the OEM 18s (which Ford sells the spare for) are 235x50R18 which are 27.3" in diameter and the spare which is 155x60R18 is still 2" shorter (25.3") in diameter, so I don't see the difference using it for 20's on most tire sizes. My 20s aftermarket on 275x35r20 are 27.6" tall, so only .3" larger in diameter than the OEM 18s. I don't see any harm using the spare then.

I think its better, but not necessary, if you can keep the spare on the fronts to keep load off of the diff though. It's easy, jack up the front put on the spare and take off the good wheel/tire. Jack up the rear and take off the rear flat and put on the front good tire/wheel and done. Then get a new tire on the wheel and put it on the front to replace the spare.

FYI, the American Muscle wheel I used is 19X8.5" versus the OEM 9".....

The reason I went this way: no spacers, no nonsense. Bolt on either end of the car and go.
