Fixed that for both of you. Now you guys can climb down from your high horse.

Ever been in, know someone, witnessed, or caused an accident? Odds are you just answered yes, better sell your cars!! YOU DON'T DESERVE THEM.

Accidents happen. Mistakes happen. It's life - and life is better without arrogant assholes.
Well said.

sounds like driver error to me. I have not missed a shift when it was stock and now i have a mgw race spec in it and its one of the best shifting transmissions i ave owned. Much better then the 14.

Well said.
+1

I'd be surprised if there was no such thing as a performance driver that has never missed a shift at some point in their experience. While agreed that it is a harsh thing to do to a powertrain, I would hope that there is enough safety factor to allow at least some forgiveness in the design. Hell, I know that over at GM, "Second Gear Overrun" is a common test, the shock of which is supposed to be sustainable. It can, however, cause hell for the drivetrain downstream. I've seen more than one ring gear flange blow off of a differential as a result...

did you tell them you accidentally shifted to 2nd instead of 4th or did they figure that out on their own
Yes I did tell them. I am an honest person. That's what real men do they own up to there mistakes. I see some of the trollers don't know what that means.

Im very surprised at how many Dicks there are on this forum. I didn't see any post that said that he was trying to get Ford to pay for his mistake. The only post I did see which I'm sure you are referring to is where he said that he would not be able to afford the trans given the cost. I mean after all he did tell the dealer what he did.

I do see a lot of bitches complaining about people trying to get Ford to repair mistakes under warranty. This doesn't seem to be the case here.
Yes sir. I was upfront and honest with them from the get go. I told them what I did. It was a mistake and I admitted to it. Would have been If only had to pay for the labor would have been glad too. Even paying for the clutch but the transmission too that hurts.

I'd be kind of surprised that there would be actual transmission damage in this situation. Usually, the tires break traction, then the clutch slips. That would often cushion any impact damage that the transmission would see. Did they specify what was damaged in the transmission assembly, or are they quoting replacing it just to make their life easier?

I don't understand the appeal of standard transmissions. You have the risk of things like this, worse fuel mileage, clutch replacement, slower shifting, and in the case of the mustang a weaker transmission. Let it go imo. Technology advances.
If this was a dual clutch automatic with paddle shifters we were talking about, I'd totally agree. Autos are admittedly great, when tuned and paired with a proper torque converter, for drag racing. For everything else, the traditional automatics like in the mustang are no substitute for a manual transmission. You don't have to worry about overheating fluid, or rubber bands, or any of that with a manual. Generally, outside of a clutch replacement every 100k or so, a manual transmission is much more reliable. That said, I prefer to DRIVE my cars. If the mustang was offered with self steering, would you let it steer for you all the time? If you're a car guy, my guess would be no. This is how I personally feel about transmissions.

I'm still puzzled as to the point of this thread and it being tagged to a lot of other posts. I understand venting, but this is a self-inflicted matter. Keep your head up and move on, this has nothing to do with the quality or function of your car. Sorry for the unfortunate circumstance.

You've also just started another "driver's" car debate. :)

This should read. "warning, learn to drive stick before buying a manual car"

Don't slam 2nd when you're about to hit 4th. Plain and simple. I'm not even sure how you don't notice that happening, and stop yourself from just dumping the clutch.[/

You don't know anything about me or my driving expirence to assume that I don't know who drive a manual trans and that I know not to down shift while accelerating . I shifted very easy into second with no effort at all. I drive big trucks for a major oil company these trucks weigh over 65,000 lbs . They are 10 speed the shift patterns are completly different. So don't judge me asshat.

Wow sorry about your situation OP. I missed 4th once in my '11 right after I got it but I managed to clutch right back in before I caused any significant damage. We've all had close calls, no need for insults.

That's what there quoting me right now. Until they get it completly tore apart that won't no for sure about the transmission . He said if the slave cylinder is gone them when whole transmission would have to be replaced.

Ray, if they haven't taken anything apart yet, then right now, it is possible the only thing you need is (1) clutch disk.

After they have everything apart, they might say the transmission is fine. Hopefully that will be the case.
