This should read. "warning, learn to drive stick before buying a manual car"

Don't slam 2nd when you're about to hit 4th. Plain and simple. I'm not even sure how you don't notice that happening, and stop yourself from just dumping the clutch.

I'm sorry that you had to learn this the hard way, but I think you are the only driver on the planet who doesn't know that if you mis-shift you can destroy your engine and/or transmission and that you will have to pay for the repairs. Hell, Ford doesn't even mention it in the owner's manual. And this is an owner's manual that has 6 full pages on how to use seat belts.

Fixed that for both of you. Now you guys can climb down from your high horse.

Ever been in, know someone, witnessed, or caused an accident? Odds are you just answered yes, better sell your cars!! YOU DON'T DESERVE THEM.

Accidents happen. Mistakes happen. It's life - and life is better without arrogant assholes.

Of course they do. And what everybody is saying - have to own your mistakes. Not try to say the transmission is POS or take it to dealership pretending had done nothing wrong. Or publicly cry that can't afford to fix this.

Im very surprised at how many Dicks there are on this forum. I didn't see any post that said that he was trying to get Ford to pay for his mistake. The only post I did see which I'm sure you are referring to is where he said that he would not be able to afford the trans given the cost. I mean after all he did tell the dealer what he did.

I do see a lot of bitches complaining about people trying to get Ford to repair mistakes under warranty. This doesn't seem to be the case here.

If you mess up and miss a shift and the clutch makes the transmission go bad . You get to pay for both. Atleast that is my case. $4600 for a new transmission and clutch.
thanks for the info :headbonk:you should also make the sure everyone knows if you put a loaded gun in your mouth and pull the trigger it kills you:clap2:

Sorry, but yours was an extreme case.

Missing the 3rd to 4th shift and going 3rd to 2nd and i would expect the transition and clutch to assplode. You are lucky the valves didn't impale themselves on the pistons.

I don't understand the appeal of standard transmissions. You have the risk of things like this, worse fuel mileage, clutch replacement, slower shifting, and in the case of the mustang a weaker transmission. Let it go imo. Technology advances.
Sorry about the transmission. Hope you find a way to get the money. Don't just take the hit on the credit imo. You'll pay $4600 anyways over the next several years in higher interest rates, higher insurance costs, etc. Even jobs are checking credit these days.
I agree....if Ford comes out with a better auto. The auto in the Mustang is nowhere near a performance transmission.

I feel more connected to the car. makes me concentrate and pay attention.

There are times when the automatic transmition flat out does things i dont want it to do. I am the driver. i am in controll, for better or worse.
