Who started this FPC rumour anyway? Wasn't it someone on here?
It was Car and Driver or Edmunds initially... They said a Flat Plane Crank but never a displacement.

I think people are getting a possible PTWA'd Coyote confused with the Voodoo.

PTWA'd Coyote will be between 5.1 and 5.5 liters

The Voodoo, if it is a Flat Plane Crank, will be between 4.4 and 4.7 liters. The GT350 could get either one, I would love to see both. That leaves the 5.0 and the PTWA's Coyote 5.1-5.5 for the GT500 and Forced Induction. Will it be an Ecoboost, Twin Turbo, Twin Screw, TVS??? Options, options, options...

I though when you said "out of left field" and people were throwing out guesses that someone assumed that was a correct guess. I think that was shortly after CD first mentioned it though. There were also some redacted post on FIN around that time.

If I'm not mistaken that was relatively recent although I couldn't find the actual link, just going off memory.

There was a thread in here where people were guessing what my left field remark was about and one of the guesses was FPC. That was back in mid June.

Ok sweet. Wasn't aware the press had mentioned it before that.

;)
Soooo... Why the concern?
lol just not wanting people to waste their time believing in a rumour "they" themselves made up.

There has always been issues with large displacement 180 crank V8's. If Ford has found a way around the harmonics, I am ready to pump my fist. This is something Ferrari would be dying to learn.

The 4.5 they engineered makes 525hp and 389tq.

No kidding. I often think most of the CD inside info is just forum speculation.
Yes, seen that happen a lot.

Pill, the 4.5 is a gem.

I heard it from my source before I knew of this site. Its a fairly old rumor.
You joined last month. For how long before that have you been stalking us?

All good TTH :)

You're welcome! It appears to be a reasonable 'design'.

Bill
A certain modular expert here in Aus explained the beauty of the 5.15 combo. (The reason for our conversation was because I'd asked what was special about "5.2"...) I see you worked out the cc to be a little less than 5.15 because of the given bore/stroke; he may have rounded down to integers in his explanation but emphasis was mainly on the rod/stroke being the killer combo.

There was a rumour from a credible source that Voodoo was limited to 8000rpm because of longevity.

And the power I just guesstimated to be honest. Initially the rumour was 600hp for Voodoo then it was down played to more tangible levels.

Realistically it's not as easy to pump 100hp/l from a relatively large capacity. Only a few can do it and even then we're looking at exotic materials.

The bad thing is if our expectations aren't checked they overtake reality and that's when we tend to get upset over the final outcome. It's why it's good to have the likes of yourself and thePill validating the info and dispersing the fairy tales.

Coyote's a great base and highly efficient as you've pointed out. The very crude measuring stick I use - which may seem useless - is specific torque. Many people would be surprised to learn that Coyote is right up there behind Ferrari's 4.5 and 6.3. There's nothing else that has a higher reading, direct injected or not.
