Well, the niche line that builds (currently) the trinity is preparing for a switch to the voodoo soon. Its under debate if its going to be all 5.2 or if they will rotate between the two engines.
This is from a reputable source of mine.
That hints a few things to me.
The 5.2 is near production, would make it a crossplane from what we have heard of this flat plane's status. (Not saying there isnt also a fp crank being built)
And if the trinity is going away why would they need to continue producing them?
This could also imply that the Trinity stays in production (Mustang application?), if discussion centres on building both Trinity & Voodoo on the same line - or logically...... somewhere else.

Thats beyond my knowledge..
Its beyond mine also, however I was just observing that if Ford management discussion was focussed on where the Trinity would be built ("rotated" with the Voodoo on the same line) - the corollary would seem to be that the Trinity was to be built somewhere.

It is also interesting if the trinity stays around. Ive no clue what they will use it for if not the mustang. Its not designed for na applications and the 5.2 is the new niche motor. I cant see this being just for motors they will store fot crate/warranty. The volume isn't right.

So would it be reasonable to deduce that the Trinity 5.8 might continue in the S550 ?

A few months ago rumor mill near me said the new halo car is going to be n/a (or the modern n/a). The 5.8 isn't designed for non boost applications, the head design flows too much air. So unless things have changed or the grapevine was wrong. I don't think we will see the 5.8 in any factory Mustang.

Although if the N/A Halo Car rumor proves false - the S/C Trinity could possibly be back in the engine bay as a GT500 (or equivalent) - with a N/A Voodoo as the GT350?

I would love to see that, a direct competitor for the zl1 and z28. But ford has tons of bean counters, I wonder if they would put forth two SE cars. The trinity is already here so for it to make a hiatus while the voodoo comes out would be wrong in many ways, and the 550 wont need two SEs to bolster its name with it being an all new mustang. Don't know honestly. Especially if there is a cross and flat plane 5.2

That makes 3 possible motors for an already limited production model.

The Boss and GT500 co-existed for 12 and 13. So Ford has shown a willingness to run multiple Se's before.

On a nearly 10 year old chassis.

The boss/500 ran in different segments and if the 350/500 were to do the same it could possible, but unlikely. Ford will most likely stagger the se's.

Easily adaptable with camshaft design. Heads can't flow "too much air". (obviously within reason)

I agree with your premise though.

I think we are jumping the gun a bit too fast. the Mustang engine line up will only come with 3 engines. the 5.0 liter making the same hp as the Boss 302 so 440 plus. Then we will have the European twin turbo (ecoboost) 2.3 liters making 300 plus ponies. Ford will also keep making the 3.7 liter also making 300 plus horses. The SVT will be unveiled probably a year after. I been saying it all along that the new top mustang will be a 5.0 liter twin turbo making 600 plus horses but it wont come out right away. The 5.8 will no longer be used, same for the Shelby badge.

Ford will probably have an answer to the Z28. In other words the mighty SVT Cobra will me making a come back in the form of a twin turbo 5.0 liter instead of the previous supercharged 4.6 in the 03-04 cobra. This new SVT cobra will benefit from an independent suspension and lighter weight compare to the z28.

There will only be an answer to the Z28 if it itself is a worthwhile vehicle. See thePill for info on this debacle.

A twin turbo 5.2 has been a circulating rumor since 2011. longevity like that only means one thing.

And the SVT Cobra is currently a 5.8, its also a Shelby.
Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra GT500. Mouthful, huh.
With this talk of the 350, don't expect a non Shelby Cobra for at least a few more years. If ever.

Carol has a lot into high performance Mustang's. It was said the GT500 was going with him, but it really seems that the new badge will still bear his name.

I agree with your premise though.

I understand designing a new set of camshafts for the 5.8 could lead it to being a great N/A motor (see '00 Cobra R, then remember that was 14 MF years ago)
But with it being near the end of its life I don't think they will invest in that kind of R&D.

The 2.3 is single turbo. Factory, it will always be that way.
And, if you want to be correct I would say, the Mustang may only have 3 engines when it is released, but that is changing. No matter what engine it ends up with it wont be one of the 'standard' engines. We have already seen its proto's running around with extra venting. That is your Cobra/350 mule testing Voodoo.
As to what you think voodoo is, that, is this threads mystery.

Quote me now if you wish. 5.2 Coyote is my guess.
But I've no (substantial) evidence for or against that last statement.
