To those of you with vinyl stripes on your cars, how do you go about waxing your car? Does wax leave streaks on the vinyl or no?

Hey sir, I just washed and waxed my car this past weekend. While I debated whether to wax the vinyl stripes or not, went ahead and did it. They came out awesome, no streaks. But these are factory stripes. Just watch out for wax build up on the edges.

Good to know, thanks for your input.
I'm getting the car ready for local competition and they require various numbering and lettering on all sides of the car. Though my car is far from a show car, I still want to wax it to protect the paint and didn't know how that would work with vinyl

"Cleaner Wax", ones with solvents and abrasives can damage them, but plain "wax", or sealant will protect them in much the same way it protects the paint.

Thnx @cbdallass, Forgot to mention, it was a carnuaba wax without additives.

Yeah like what others said, if you do use wax, do not let it build up on the edges. My stripes severly faded after not taking care of them from living in an apartment, did not have access to wax them all the time. If I were to ever use vinyl again, I would use Carpro Skin. Basically a ceramic coating for the stripes

A ceramic coating is a good topcoat for vinyl stripes but the vinyl is pretty durable. As long as you give it at least a regular wax, it will hold up and look as good as new for years.

I don't think it matters Andy as long as it's frequent. If you're not of the mind to do it say weekly (if driven) then I would look for a more substantial wax rather than anything sprayed on. I pretty much use various spray on waxes a hundred percent of the time and I've had stripes last for over six years and look like new with no coating or film.
