I have been applying graphics and stripes to my cars for over 20 years, I always use a gloss vinyl verse matte. I wax over them with whatever I currently have. Lately I have been using McGuire's Ultimate Synthetic wax on my 17.

Thanks! So it doesn’t make any scratches? Sorry if I’m asking a lot, just nervous as it’s the first time I’ve ever had stripes on a car lol

Don’t use cleaner wax, as that has very mild abrasives that will cause scratches over time on the vinyl. Use pure waxes or synthetic waxes without abrasives.

Thanks for the advice! Any brand recommendations?

The Meguires Ultimate Synthetic does not have abrasives.

I was told to use detail spray on my stripes and never use a orbital buffer on them.I've only had mine since August but when the car gets wet they bead up very nicely.

Thanks! I’ve always been a fan of Meguires as my dad always used it on his cars. I’ll go and try that one.

I would avoid at all cost.
Vinyl don't really absorb wax all that well anyway.

I have been doing it for 20 years with no adverse effects. The vinyl is not supposed to absorb the wax it is a protective coating, same with paint it is not absorbed it is a protective coating.
