Okay, so this means I'm not going to get my Ecoboost Premium with Performance Package, 50th package, and more... until January, even though I ordered it on 5/20 and have an 11 priority code :tsk:

I think you'll be OK :-) It will be interesting to see what happens, but I assume the orders are already giving visibility to trim levels. Lots of smart people and application systems are busy planning now. It's likely some suppliers have already been producing parts for things that were locked down.

Getting a VIN is a big milestone in the process. I'd love to know about the commodity information available to understand how things are progressing.

The GM from the dealership I ordered from, called me today to update me on my LE. He spoke with the Ford today and said my car will be in the first run. It was behind a few others from the region and he said he got it bumped to the top of the region list, thanks in part to my Daughters open letter to Ford, I don't think I could love a child more. He said the LEs were being scheduled like the GTs, only so many allocations per week. He said they were not releasing the VIN yet, but it may be released between tomorrow and next week.

I exhaustively searched over 50 dealers before I found one with a allocation, then a week later, told me they would be getting the car they wanted and auctioning it to the highest bidder. (the GM was out of town and did not know) I bid for the KATY dealers on Ebay and offered 60K, they rejected my offer. I kept searching anyhow I went and found another dealer willing to sell me one at MSRP (the Sherwood dealer in her letter) and even back it off the carrier, I was flying high. The next day I brought my deposit in and they said sorry, we already took a deposit three weeks ago. I was pretty devastated any who, while I sulked she wrote this letter unbeknownst to me:

An open letter to Ford Motor Company

Dear Ford Motor Company,

I don’t know a whole lot about cars. I have no idea what horsepower really is, and I don’t know, nor have the desire to ever learn, how to drive a stick shift. There is one car that I do know, though, and that’s the Ford Mustang. I know that there was a 1964 ½ model, and I know that this year, America will celebrate its 50th anniversary. What a feat! Congratulations on that by the way; it’s not often that many things make it to 50 with as much prestige and class as you guys have with the Mustang.
In fact there are few companies that come to mind when I think about the longevity of 50 years. Coca-Cola, Jim Beam, and my personal favorite: Baker’s Chocolate. Yum, right? Obviously I’m not your typical customer. In fact, I’m not your customer at all. I’ll tell you who is though, and that’s Retired Chief Master Sergeant Dave Patterson.

Let me give you a little history on Chief Patterson.

Chief Patterson has also stood the test of time. On June 11, he will complete this century of life with more experience, prestige, and class than anyone I know. How do I know that? Well, because Chief Patterson is also my dad.
Dad also had a Mustang. I’m pretty sure he’s had a few. I remember him telling stories about how he had to sell his first one because my brother and I were destroying the back seat with our feet. You can’t hold that against us, we were merely babies. Then, I remember in high school he bought another one that he poured hours into getting it ready to be drivable. It was charcoal gray with a black stripe down the front with a convertible top. He still owns that one.

Through the years of obsessing (not an overstatement) over the Ford Mustang, he spent the remainder of his time sacrificing. He sacrificed time with his family, hours in his garage, romantic dinners with his wife. For what? For you, for me, for the Ford Mustang, … for America. I never once heard my dad complain about the countless trips overseas, away from his family. I never once heard him grumble about a mission or even the taste (or lack thereof) of MREs.

Instead my dad served joyfully and faithfully for our country for 30 years. He truly loved his job, and still has deep affection for the United States Air Force. As if 30 years serving wasn’t enough, he currently serves the VA hospital in Little Rock in his retirement.

You’re probably wondering where I’m going with this letter, and I’m about to take it home. I wish this ended well.

You see; my dad’s life has mirrored the Ford Mustang in a way. It has grown, matured, and even had pretty ugly moments (1974 Mach 1, anybody?). It came as no surprise that in my dad’s retirement, he wanted to buy a Mustang. I mean, the timing could not have been more perfect: My dad and the Ford Mustang were actually going to celebrate 50 years together! My dad has thousands of Mustang things (cars, memorabilia, books, etc.)… So of course he went to the 50th celebration in North Carolina in April. Then it happened. He saw the 50th Anniversary Mustang.

As soon as he got home, he went to the Sherwood, Arkansas Northpoint Ford Dealership and asked about the car. His DREAM car. It was Kona Blue, and had all the bells and whistles. I know because he emailed me a picture and listed out all the features. I truly was so excited for him. He filled out paperwork and probably literally skipped out the door like a little kid.

The next day my dad went back to the dealership to pay the deposit. The GM said they made a mistake and that another customer had already claimed the car.

I could feel the heartache three states away. My dad has been waiting 50 years for this car, and it comes down to this? To a mistake?
I’m not asking for a free car. I’m not even asking for a discount. I grew up in a household where you worked really hard and sacrificed a lot to get what you wanted. I’m just asking for the chance. I know you care. You have to if you can produce commercials like this: [ame]

The Ford Mustang is more than a car. It’s an experience.

Please give my dad the opportunity to experience this milestone celebration with you. No one deserves it more.

Awesome man! I kind of feel your pain about the LE's. I looked around locally for one way early and was told by every single one of them that they had little to no allocation and that they would either be auctioning it, the GM was taking delivery for himself, and/or they were going to sell it for well over MSRP.

A forumite here found a dealership in Florida that had 8 available for allocation (and at MSRP), so I immediately inquired. I was told the next day that I was SOL because they had recently quit selling to people out of state due to tax issues. I pressed on, asking if I could use a family member's address or something to make it work. They said that even if I *could* do that, which was highly unlikely to be approved, I'd have to pay taxes in both States.

At that point, I resigned myself to get a GT with the options I wanted and moved on. I ordered my TY GT+PP on the first day (5/20). Within a week, I got an e-mail from the same guy saying: "Guess what, I got you one. It'll be $10k over MSRP. Let me know if you want it." - Ugh. As much as I like the LE, it just wasn't worth the extra $10k to me, especially on top of the hassle of flying to Florida to get it (the drive home would have been great, though).

Thank you very much for your service to this great Country! You do deserve that LE and your Daughter is amazing for taking that into her hands. I'm sure, you, like myself, had given up on it.

The GM at the dealership I am buying the car from, actually called me out of the blue and I almost thought it was a cruel joke. I was about to buy a GT500 a year ago, but something didn't feel right. I was only so so about the 2015 until I saw a Black GT at Charlotte, I was like a kid who just turned 21 buying his first legal beer. Then when they uncovered the LE and it roared to life....chills. I really liked it, then I saw the Kona Blue on the Vegas pictures...It was like Air Force Blue, and the same as a Boss 302 I drooled on once. When Dave Pericak said it stomped the Boss in pre-production and would be even better in production, I knew it was the "one". When I sat down with the GM and signed the order, I told him this was just like when I first found out I was going to be a dad, but I'm glad it wasn't going to be 9 months.

It hasn't been ordered yet but I have the allocation reserved. I'm glad you are getting the car you want and must say you have a good kid there.

Really awesome Chief.... Thank you for YOUR service! I did not have much drama like you in getting the mustang but I did leave some numbers at a dealership here to call me when they were accepting orders... Around April when the event It pays to drive a Ford that I got from going to the autoshow. test drove a 14 GT and really liked it but adamant that I wanted the 15 Mustang.... May 20 rolled around and knew the order banks were open and still no calls. The dealership even said there were no incentives and that all will be at full MSRP which I already knew as crap. So Memorial weekend I went to a highly recommended dealer from a friend and co-worker(s) and place my order via the x-plan since I am now Retired Military of 22 years and military /DOD has fleet contracts with Ford should be elligible. What a perfect way to commemorate the 50 years of Mustang with, in my opinion, the best ever mustang, Retiring from the Military at a young age of 40, 22 happens to be a good luck number Coincidentally My Unit was also NMCB 22 ... Anyways this will be my first, Figured I would share and thank your supportive family for me!
