This is older information, but it goes into great detail about the Ford ordering process. it describes the scheduling procedure and makes reference to the weekly commodity hold information and the automated scheduling that takes place over Wednesday night into Thursday.

This is the part many do not get and if they did, would not demand so many options. Even customer orders have to fall into the allocation/commodity line. A dealer can order any customer order, but it cannot be scheduled until the commodities are available. The greater number of options on a vehicle line, the less commodities available per week.

This is true and I've experienced it a couple of times in the past. My 1993 Windstar order was held up for about 5 weeks waiting for the driver's side power seat assembly. My 1979 Mercury Capri Turbo RS was held up for close to 7 months due to problems Ford had with the TC3 turbo.

Great! My dealer is great as well, just nothing yet....The one Ford rep, Ashley, from svtperformance.com said those that ordered on the first few days are still going to be waiting a little while to get a VIN.

I have since replied to her PM to get an understanding of why that is the case as that makes no sense to me.

Here is her PM:

Todd,

There's no VIN yet. Hang in there. You ordered pretty early on in the process, so it might be a bit of a wait still. Check back with me in a few weeks for another update!

Ashley
This is what I got today from Tricia in Ford Service when I asked her which VINs get filled first Retail or Dealer Stock:

"VIN’s are produced once the vehicles are scheduled for production.

Orders are scheduled based on the following criteria:
-the priority code rating
-the dealer's allocation for each production week
-the ordered option content
-the receipt date

The receipt date is a factor when breaking ties for orders with the same priority code. Therefore, the date is the last factor.

Order scheduling did begin last week and it’s in process.

Continue to check in with me for updates.

I hope this was helpful and have a great day! :D

Tricia"

So I guess it is more an issue of priority and the power of your dealer, than it is the day it was ordered or whether or not it was a stock or retail purchase.

I would think all LE's would get scheduled together, no matter dealer priority. No LE cars have vins yet.

Of course we can't call it fact but my dealer did say the regular cars would be out first followed by the LEs for whatever reason.

"Ford has said that the limited edition models will be some of the first off the assembly line when 2015 production begins later this year" Glad your dealer knows more than the manufacturer. I guess time will tell, since no one at Ford is telling...

Actually Ford said that the LEs would trickle out amongst the other models. I would find where they said it but I'm too lazy.:headbonk:

I got my quote from Fords investor media site. https://media.ford.com/content/ford...14/04/16/mustang-50-year-limited-edition.html I have a video of Bill Ford saying it would be first out. If you have another source, I'd be interested. Obviously if dealers don't order them from their allocations and play the wait and see game to try and get a big Christmas bonus those may trickle out. I haven't heard of many dealers with authorizations left other than the few on E-Bay playing games.:ford:

We should note that it says

The 50 Year Limited Edition car will be among the first 2015 Mustangs built

Okay, so this means I'm not going to get my Ecoboost Premium with Performance Package, 50th package, and more... until January, even though I ordered it on 5/20 and have an 11 priority code :tsk:

(I knew I should have ordered that V6)
