From what I was told, and so far the person was pretty spot on, the VIN number will match the dash #. So far the first 450 scheduled are in order, The VIN is such that the 5 in the plant space and then 50 after for 50 years(make 550 for the platform) then the last four of the serial number. The actual serial # is 50 plus the XXXX of 1964. These unique VINs are only for the Limited Editions and are not part of the regular sequence numbers. To my knowledge, they have never done this before.
If they did that, it would be a first in the time I have been familiar with getting serialized Mustangs. And it would be cool :)

Actually, I've ordered an ecoboost premium and my VIN ends in F530XXXX so I don't think the 3 indicates a GT. By the way, what is the danger in sharing a VIN? Is there a chance of my order getting hijacked by someone else?

Thank you Don. If I have to worry about someone stealing my car because I posted the complete VIN I will simply order or locate the car. There is no personal information attached to it, I am of the school that a group of people with a common cause would not be that much of a low life to intervene in my life. If that is the case I will still move on, life is short and bad MOJO finds you.

One of the advantages of being somewhat patient and doing retail special order versus stock[emoji2]

Not really sure what trouble you could do with a VIN. It's not like you can't walk up to any car in the world and read the VIN off the windshield.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Yet, everyone is only posting a portion of their VIN. I was wondering if I was missing something.

theoretically, they would be able to find the general location of a person from records attached to their VIN (where car is delivered, reported oil changes).

I only used XXXX as place holders, My VIN is 500069, all sequence #s are 6 numbers and you can get the registered owner from car fax or any other place with public records, its the world we live in. I never said the 3 indicates a GT, it just indicates the sequence numbers are currently starting with 3. I used the GT, because there are several VINs already put out. I could use your ECO if you would like. The engine is the one before the check digit or 8th position. GTs are F, your Eco will be something else. The six digit serial or sequence number could be on any car type. It is just the LE's have their own serial/sequence number that is unique and outside the normal sequence numbers.

For the folks with serial numbered past Mustangs, the reason the numbers are different is you didn't get a unique VIN, they just serial numbered the cars.

What difference does it make when they can get that from your state tags which can also tell what vin that tag goes to? If a person buys a vehicle from a certain location does not necessarily mean they are gonna go there for service as with my case I may or may not depending on situation... you can also get an address where that plate is registered as well

Besides... you can toy with your order number and dealer code to see other people's order too... I did it

Sorry, I misunderstood. You weren't saying that GT premiums started with a 3, you were saying the sequence numbers for all cars but the LEs were currently starting with a 3...

Good call. The 8th position for an ecoboost is an H.

I know this website has already been posted, but I found it very helpful to figure out what each position indicated: http://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin-decoder/
