After being confused, I searched the definition of wheel track and it is simply the Centre to Centre of the wheels on the same axle. Therefore Wheel offset would be the only influence on Track unless you use spacers. So your VMB9s should only alter track by 20mm and 14mm front and back respectively (outwards), (If your data on offset is accurate). Tyre width does not alter Track if they bulge symmetrically. There are other rules limiting tyre width as explained by others here. So looking further, a 275mm front tyre would poke outwards 20mm (10 for offset and 10 for the tyre) more than stock and no internal protrusion. The 295mm rear would poke outwards 17mm more than stock. Should look good. I hope this is accurate.
I stand corrected, sorry guys. I always thought track width was to the oustide.

the more you know...the diagram on the link I posted backs this up

All good

Yeah that's what I thought you were calculating. It's from the center point, therefore 1/2 of the total addition.

BTW Gnome if it's not too much trouble can you take a pic of the tyre placard (the white rectangular thing on the drivers/passenger side door) and post it here?

Great info guys, really appreciate it!

Its definitely a bit confusing to start with, from the perspective of someone who never really has to take much notice of these particular legalities. But it makes alot more sense now!
Its good that if we are ever hastled about wheels, there is a bit of fact backing us up.

Yes, the stock and aftermarket offsets are all accurate. I sent through the info to my mech. He said they are 100% fine.

Glad to hear you checked with your mechanic.

I did some calcs this morning and for your wheels/tyres going to 20's is a conservative increase.

They meet the VSI 6 R3 requirement of no more than 7% and they also meet the older VSI 9 R4 limit of a 15mm increase to the overall tyre diameter.

For track you're OK too, 20mm change to the front and 15mm change to the rear.

Cool thanks man.

I was hoping for the recommended specs for the 20" to be there. It's not even on the manual.

Looking at the US specs all the info for the "manufacturer 20" wheels and tires" are on there.

The Velgen's just arrived this morning. Unpackaged one of them and surprised to see so much protection! Even a cloth cover inside among other stuff. Needless to say they are in great condition.

Super fast delivery and excellent customer service from Brett @Autoware. Highly recommend to anyone considering Velgen wheels.

They look WAY better in person than I thought. Finish is top quality.

Very nice! Did they send new wheel nuts with the wheels?

I'm very much leaning to this wheel in satin black - just want to see how the car rides on 19's. You'll probably get yours before me!

Nah no nuts. But he did tell me beforehand. There's a variety you can get from cheap to rather pricey. I'll try to find a flat black one to match.

If you're leaning towards satin, you're in for a treat. They look heaps better in real life. Think smooth powder coat matte black.

How's the paint situation on yours? Is it being delivered soon?

Will take delivery on Monday or Tuesday. I saw the car a day or 2 ago; it looked a lot better and I'm feeling a lot better about it also. Panel gaps and alignment are all OK and seems quite tidy otherwise.

Then it's off to the detailer, Driven Colour, for the full treatment. Dealer will pick up the tab for the paint correction.

Detailer is very confident it can all be corrected.

I hope your delivery goes more smoothly!
