Hi all,

I have the xforce varex exhaust installed on mystang since May. I'd like to get an idea the best way to hardwire the module rather than having it connected to the cigg plug. Any suggestions on 'how to' wire the thing up?

Open the cig-plug up and see if it is fused (I bet it is not) if not then just run it in-line to a switched component on the car so it doesn't draw power when off. So I would probe your fuse box and see what is switched on when the car is in acc mode then just jump into that.

Thanks mate, already have it. I just need to find the right place in the fuse box to run it. Do you have any suggestions?

If you are going to hardwire make sure to hardwire it to an ignition fed source. And not directly to the battery. Then just run the ground wire to any sheet metal you can find. I have the varex system and I just have the plug in the center console and when I want to open or close I just plug her in and hit the button.

You don't need to unplug the cig lighter right? You can leave that plugged in and just hit the open/close switch whenever.
I'm looking to purchase the Varex soon. I really like the options and the build quality.

i had mine fitted into the fuse box down by the drivers (RHD) fuse panel, also on a switched ignition live. Couldn't tell you which fuse though.

The center console fuse box is ignition powered only so you can leave it plugged in almost constantly. With the exception of maybe going on vacation as I don't know how strong the circuit board is built in those to handle being energized for hours on end and the heat buildup.

Thanks man. I've been trying to figure out the best way in hardwiring the varex. I thought I could do it through the centre console power but, like you said, I'd rather avoid the constant power. I might just leave it as is and unplug it when the ingition is off.

thread resurrection: Where are you guys mounting your varex control box? I got the box and the switch and am planning on making a pig tail so I can run both at the same time (switch and fobs)

Any updates on mounting ideas for the box and hard wiring it in, which fuse was used to tap into etc. ?
