manual transmission or auto ? It's easier and probably more tempting to abuse a manual transmission.

I stand corrected, the Valet mode only locks the touchscreen.
Serves me right for listening to the dealer when I picked up the car.

Doesn't the My Key have the option to limit top speed in it's settings?
Valet mode only locks the infotainment system so the driver can't find out your personal information.
My key can limit speed but can't limit throttle. Would be nice to be able to not allow more than 10% throttle like in Wet/snow mode.

I worked at an upscale Marriott in college and sometimes stepped in for valet. Honestly, I parked everything from Ford Escorts to Porsche 911's. I never saw anyone abuse anything and we were usually in a hustle to get cars in and out and assist guests. Also, some guys would throw a tip our way and ask to park it themselves in the valet lot. That might be an option if you're concerned.

Save miles on the Mustang and just rent a cheap car. I've done that before. Not as fun of a road trip but at least you won't be stressed out about it.

All of that being said, I too did some part time valet work in Washington DC during college years ago. Worked for a valet company and we would do nightclubs, restaurants, embassy parties etc. Way more expensive cars than Mustangs coming around and no problems. As a valet, you have a job to do and usually you have to do it quickly so there's not much time to mess around even if you wanted to. I personally think that, much like law enforcement, 99.9% of valets are going to be professional and do a great job. Unfortunately there's always going to be that 0.1% of bad apples that screws up the reputation for everyone else.

Just let them valet. They have insurance. Do some research on the hotel and specifically the valet staff. When I valet I tip generously when I drop the vehicle with them the first time, so they remember me
This!

I was a valet for 3 years when I was younger and we NEVER messed up anyone's car on purpose. In those 3 years, parking thousands of cars, I only accidentally damaged 2 (both very minor, but still...)

If you tip well and are not an a-hole when you arrive, the staff will be happy to accommodate you and park your car where you want it parked. You could try offering them $20 to let you park it yourself, if you really want. Some will do it, some won't (insurance reasons, parking among the other valet'ed cars).

Valet Mode on the convertible locks the entertainment system with a 4 digit pin, locks the trunk and also the middle console. Only when you enter the pin, the trunk and middle console unlock.

Damn even the ZR1 had a special key and it was only 385hp! Any car over 300hp should have this feature. Not to valet is not always easy. We recently went to Savannah and in town who knows where they take your car to park it. Not at the hotel cause there IS NO PARKING! We stayed accross the river at the Westin which has a huge parking lot. Check your options...

Another ex-valet here. No offense but a Mustang was probably the 8th best option for a car to rag on if we ever wanted to. If it's anything like the valet company I worked for, regulations are pretty strict and there is no warning for ass-hattery. There's absolutely no reason to call valet's idiots. There may be idiots that happen to get a valet job, but they don't last long.

I've personally never valeted a car ever and I'm not sure I ever will.

I had friends that valeted back in college and I can tell you they beat on cars any chance they got.

They may have had regulations but they definitely bent them. I'd suggest maybe even riding with the valet to where your car gets parked so you can see how he/she drives and such?

Yes, but I think the lowest limit is still highway speeds, so 65 or 70 mph. The one nice thing is that it can force the traction control to stay on, so likely limit burnouts.

Maybe you could park offsite, or change hotels, or call the hotel manager and say a bunch of coral snakes got loose in your car and you haven't found all of them yet and maybe they'll make an exception for you. Get creative.
