Where do you all go where valet parking is a thing? Seen it maybe twice in my life and never used it but then I live out in the suburbs on the west coast with big parking lots in front of everything and nobody paid to park cars

I hear ya, I would much rather mark my own car when possible. You would suprised though how many people don't want to look for parking, they want to roll out of their cars and get to whatever it is they were doing. I've seen valet at hospitals, no joke. Shopping malls, tons of hotels and restaurants, strip malls have them too. Its pretty much all over the place in metropolitan areas.

Always set it in valet mode. Have them park up front.
I'm in Vegas everything has a valet.

Nearly every 4-5 star hotel in a big city that is anywhere near downtown has had valet-only service, in my experience. Your mileage may vary.

What about car washes? Do you guys let the car wash employees move the car between the different sections (exterior/interior cleaning)?

Carwash! Haha, not gonna happen. Pay someone to come to the house and do it. Most carwashes are sloppy and not interested in preserving your nice shiny paint.

I am planning on installing a dash cam. It will turn on every time the car is running. It has a small LED screen to play back recording. I already have one on another car. Not only for valet parking but for insurance/police if an idiot runs into me.
Welcome to Soviet Russia. :clap2:

I do take mine every few months especially in the summer to a detail shop for a hand wash and wax but that aint nothin like the car washes youre thinking of. These people use better products than even enthusiasts on forums use.

I do my best to avoid valet only places. Very little pisses me off more, but...

If valet is the only option, I always have them sit shotgun with me while I park it. Occasionally, for their insurance reasons, that won't fly, so in that case, I ride shotgun with them. It never leaves my sight, then I keep the keys.
Note: I always tip WELL. That smooths over almost all objections and it's worth the piece of mind.
