I didn't want to make a new thread to ask this when it could probably be easily answered here... what are the legality issues with a radar detector?

I like in pa, frequently drive in Ohio and occasionally in wv. If I were to get pulled over with it installed and a cop saw it are there any repercussions?
PA is different than most states. Only state police can use radar and they have to be stationary.

Depends on county. I got one last year outside of Emporia and it was just over $100. I use my Redline in VA now so they can't detect it

I believe the fee is always $40 - the court cost vary from 55-65.

hahahahah I would install ten radars all around the car....:lol:

Take a look the fine at my country (Greece).
It is the last box which says αντι-ραντάρ (anti-radar device)
2000 Eur + 60 days removal of car license + 30 days removal of driving license.:lol:

It is the same fine as Drinking !

Jason, do you guys plan on making a base plate for other radar detectors (like Escort)?

Yep, With a mirror tap it's simple, see this post for the pins to use:
I bought the 2000 series with the .05" tap and can not get the pins to work. What is the trick or did I buy the wrong one?

That's the size I used. You might have to turn the tap 90 degrees in relation to the plug (instead of inserting it with the tap along the bottom of the plug, try the side or vice-versa). I seem to recall that it went in much easier in one orientation.

Any consensus on the best mirror mount? I'm looking at the taps and it seems that a bundle buy might be best (i.e. getting mirror mount and tap). Looking to see what everyone else is using for the passport max.

Many of these are for the V1, which is a great system and the reviews are helpful, I was hoping you guys could put me in the right direction for a passport max mirror mount/tap. might do the DIY tap like others have stated if it's truly $30..

I have the Max with Blendmount, with their tap. Works great. Power on/off with the car. Very happy with both detector and mount. I think you'll be hard pressed to get a consensus on either detector or mount.

Oh for sure, I don't need a concensus on the radar, as I've already invested in the MAX, no going back.

That seems like a good mount. I think we have the third mirror of the choices, I'll need to check before moving forward with anything. hopefully it's an easy/seemless install. I hear it works much better with the higher location.

I am having an issue inserting the Anchor-Room mirror tap.

I removed the plug from the mirror to make things easier. I tried inserting the prongs, and could get neither to engage. I applied, what I think, is a lot of force. To the point where I was afraid I was going to damage the plug or the tap wiring. I tried twisting, pivoting, moving it around and could not get them to engage. Looking into the rear of the plug, I don't see how this would fit. It almost seems like a flat blade would fit instead of a circle, but I am not the smartest one in the room for sure!

The prongs on my tap are round with a 0.039-0.040" OD. Do I have the correct tap? If so, what am I doing wrong here?

Try using a small pair of needle nose pliers to grip the prong and push it into the mirror.
It worked for me. I was very concerned about breaking one of those flimsy little buggers.
