You simply insert the mirror tap connections in the spots Thompyt indicated in the diagram. Red wire to the square that is colored red, black in the square marked black. The mirror tap connections just slide in beside the wires that are already there.
I'm referring to his amazon product

Just trying to help you out. The connection is pretty simple and makes for a very clean install. I have the same setup in my car.

Verified this with another guy with the same thing (works at a shop), but I've bent the black cable's prongs trying to squeeze it in there. Am I supposed to stretch open the hole a little or something?

I slid mine under the pin. I think that's what the instructions said.

The red one went in very easily. The black one, however, seems nearly impossible. After bending the prong and straightening it up several times, it finally broke off trying to jam it in. I guess I'll be ordering 3x more of these next time.

EDIT: Just ordered 3 more of these so I can break the next 2 trying the impossible. I'm obviously doing something right if the red one goes in just fine, but the black one seems impossible... Does anyone know where I can buy this freaking thing locally, or do I have to wait another week (possibly longer) to another one from Amazon?

Just got 1 of the two mirror tap replacements and now this prong broke with much less force trying to jam it in there like the last one. I guess my only choice now is splicing...

Mine wasn't to hard to slide in. It did take some force but it's a lot cleaner then splicing or running a wire all the way down to the fuse box. Been 14months and no issues

I drew up a diagram, but with the ground I chose - It powered off in reverse.

Look at the thread on Page 2, the diagram is there plus the corrected version.

Thank you! 5 min install and worked like a charm. V1 now hiding on top left part of the mirror and you can't even tell from outside the car that I have radar detector since I have 5% tint stripe on my windshield.

Just to clarify, to use this connection in the back of the rear view mirror one would need to purchase the MirrorTap radar detector power cord, correct? I just want to make sure I get everything I need before I begin the install.

Also, you guys are using a BlendMount with this rear-view mirror connection, right?

Thanks!

Yeah, so does someone have a link to this mirror tap? Does it have the correct 12v connector on the other end that will plug right into a Cobra detector?
