Here are some pics of the results of using the UPR magnetic drain plug. Oil change history: First oil change done at dealer for free @ 3000 miles. Second change done by me @ 8000 miles, installed UPR plug and switched over to Mobil 1 5W-30. Pics are from OC @ 13,000 miles. Glad to see it's picking up the crap in the oil.

Other than the oil pump not being saved from the return oil contaminants, some stuck on the end of the magnet, the oil filter should trap that. Unless relief valve, unlikely, had to be open at times. Never a bad idea to use a drain plug with a magnet though.

Nice.

I put one in mine when I changed my oil in February. It'll be interesting to see what the magnet looks like.

I wanted to use a magnetic plug too, but all are metal, and don't recommend removing them with every oil change, which I want to do for maximum oil drainage (yeah, I know it's not that much :D). So will use this oil filter magnet as an alternative: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JW8CJ4W/ref=ox_sc_act_image_6?smid=A3A5LGWQA9S66Q&psc=1
Yup, you can pay $27 for one magnet or $3 for 10. It's your choice. https://www.harborfreight.com/10-piece-rare-earth-magnets-67488.html

You could also buy 3 Kia Rios, or 1 Bullitt. Your choice too :D.

Not gonna lie, that seems like a highly unusual amount of metal shavings to be seeing at that mileage. I'd be cutting open the filter and seeing what's in there as well.

Yeah, can't wait to see what the plug catches on the next OC.

I've got a Ronin plug. I'm curious to see what's on it come this fall when I change the oil for the winter.
