Updated SYNC, Waze app showed then disappeared.

Have the latest version of SYNC and I did not see Waze added as rumored it would be. Today I disabled Apple Car Play and opened the apps using the Ford icon. Low and behold I saw the Waze icon, clicked on it, but it would not open. I closed out of it and later went back and the icon was gone. Anyone else?

My F150 has waze and it works. What software version are you on? I'll have to check mine and maybe I won't update.

I have version 3.0. I did not have the Waze app installed prior to updating to 3.0.

This morning I went down and checked my version for the prior post and saw that the Waze app was back. Again it was not showing in Apple CarPlay but rather in the Ford app screen. This is what I get when I try to open Waze. It continues trying to load but I give up after 10 minutes or so.

This worked for me:
Disable CarPlay
Connect via cable
Open Waze on phone
Select between Sync and Waze for maps on head unit
I also had it “waiting for app to respond” delays
Unplugged and when I plugged back in it was ok.
Not a smooth process, but it seems to be ok.

Aubrey, I tried your suggestion and after unplugging and plugging the phone back in, I chose Waze on the head unit I’m still getting “waiting for device”. Before Waze started for you after doing the above steps did you have to wait a while for it to work or did it work right away?

It was quite buggy and seemed to hang with the phone saying it was locked with the app running. It eventually came right, but I’m not sure how or why!

I used to be able to get waze to navigate, but now it won’t. Still shows cops and maps, but no blue line.

Got it working tonight. Followed Aubrey's suggestions for third time. Unfortunately when I open it, Waze locks my phone for safety. Changing screens within the app is very slow. Haven't yet used it to navigate.

That sucks! I am currently on version 2.7 guess I will be waiting till the bugs are fixed as my Waze is working like a champ.
