I completely agree on the chassis being superior. I wish I could get an engine that was as interesting as the Voodoo is to me in a GM car, or a chassis as good as the alpha in a Mustang. First world problems I guess.

I hope Chevy gets rid of the matte hood on the 1LE.

Two main reasons I bought a 2015 GT and then a 2016 GT350 rather than switching camps and getting a 2014 1LE. Well, the interior and radio were also really bad. And I didn't like the shifter. Oh and the price was high. I did love the active exhaust, though.

True. It seems the Voodoo is responding to bolt one extremely well and already has the advantage stock and bolt on. An e85 setup would be awesome.

There's so much hype surrounding the 5th gen 1LE that I've been scouring Craigslist to find one to test drive. Does it really handle that much better than a Mustang? My base model GT on bigger tires and Steeda springs handles well but nothing confidence inspiring. It's leaps and bounds better than it was stock, but it's still nothing to write home about.

I'd bet 93 tune versus E85 tune would show something in the 15-20whp range. It's not as much as the Voodoo benefits, but still significant.

There's probably more to be had in the Voodoo than we've seen as tuners figure them out. VMP just posted a 25whp/20wtq gain on a 93 octane tune only. That's significantly more than I've seen so far. There's no learning curve for the LT1 since it's been out for two years already. We already know exactly what they can do.

There is a irrefutable time gap for the Motortrend head to head. That being said. There is a irrefutable gap in tire compound, tire size, and wheel size.

Literally one of the most important aspects of a good handling vehicle. I have wanted to see a GTPP on 285's F1 G2's with a square tire setup go up against and 1LE for some time.

Frankly I wish Magazines would test cars from the factory, then test them with a like tire and wheel combo.

I will say this, I have been to three track events over the past summer, two autocross events, and one HPDE. I have still haven't seen a 1LE best a Boss or GTPP. Even seeing a 1LE is the wild is impressive. There just isn't that many of them. It's a solid 2 to 1 ratio for Boss 302's to 1LE's. So from that standpoint I think it makes the 1LE's even cooler.

At the autocross and HPDE levels there can be a much wider difference in driver skill level than there is difference in car capability.

That said, the 5th gen Camaro in any guise is at a couple of slight disadvantages for autocross from the get-go. About 5" more wheelbase and up to a couple hundred lbs more weight will work against the "nimbleness" that is required in that activity.

I am not ignoring driver skill. Which is why I still hold the MT head to head in higher regard. However it is still only looking at a single data point can get you hemmed up.

While most people driving are not Randy. They are doing more with less. Less tire, less, wheel, less gear. And they are doing it consistently all across the country time and time again. To ignore that is also short sighted. I continue have stated I think Ford does a better job on the whole, because they do more with less.

I take issue with Camaro owners hanging there hat on a single comparison, and calling it the gospel.

Evidence suggests the GTPP is easier to drive fast for the average person than the 1LE, and that is magnified by the fact there are so many more of them.
