Looks like I've completely worn away 2 splitter fasteners. How do I replace them?

Subscribed as I'll be in the same boat pretty soon lol. I scrape about 50% of the time coming in/out of my driveway. Haven't perfected the exact path to not scrape.

They're basically pop rivets installed from under the car: W705297-S417 - Valance Rivet - $1.62 each at Levittown.

To install them, an "Astro Pneumatic Tool 1423 1/4" Heavy Duty 13" Hand Riveter" does the job just fine. Search for it on Amazon.

There not pop rivets. There allen headed panhead fasteners. If you use a pop rivet the splitter isnt serviceable without grinding/drilling them out. Depot and Lowes usually has something that’s very similar in the specialty bins in the hardware section.

You're right - it's the front row that are rivets. I didn't look closely enough. Sorry about that.

That row is a "W708464-S450B Truck Bed Panel Bolt", also less than $2 at Levittown or any other online dealer.

I had my splitter off this year to change the coolant and aside from removing more than two pounds of OPR (other people's rubber) from on top of the undertray, I also replaced all the damaged fasteners including one of the rivets and a couple of the screws. Seems FP borrowed this particular screw from the F150 parts bin.

What's the suggested way to remove the ones that are worn nearly flat? Grind a slot with a Dremel and use a screwdriver?

That’s the easiest. There’s not a lot or torque on them so tey should come out fairly easily.

Thanks! Part number and everything.

If there's any of the socket left at all, they should come out - they're not very tight. The correct tool is a T30 Torx. They're the same screws as the one that holds the oil filter hatch on the undertray.

I bought 8 new bolts intending to replace all 7. However, the 2 missing ones have nothing left in the hole to grab the threads of a new bolt. Two of the other worn ones spin, but don't come out. I quit there.

Are these structural, meaning do they help hold the splitter on along with the 99 other fasteners? Or, do they just give the ground something hard to scrape against?

Thanks in advance.

There not meant as a rub spot, even though that’s what happens. All of them together make it solid.

How do I replace these (before the splitter flies off)?

Just a guess but I've assumed they go into slip nuts. Maybe those two nuts vibrated off without the fastener present.

After taking the splitter off, maybe there's enough screw protruding out the other side that you can put a vise grip on and turn/remove.
