Turbo Blankets, whaddya think?

I'm randomly browsing through Americanmuscle.com and I come across this lovely item: http://www.americanmuscle.com/t3-cf-turbo-blanket-heat-shield.html

I do a quick search and I see these on MAP; http://www.maperformance.com/forced-induction/ (I apologize, I see you have to select it)

Now besides having no clue which to choose for the stock turbo, I'm wondering if it's even worth getting initially, hence why I'm asking your opinion on the matter.

The turbo inlet temps and valve cover temps decreased a pretty good amount. Im gonna buy me one soon. It cant hurt anything.

Turbo blankets work very well on larger frame turbo's. I would shy away from them on factory turbo unless a direct fit blanket is available. Universal blankets fit terrible and cause more issues than good.

Our turbo kit actually comes with a turbo blanket and heatwrap for the downpipe. We are believers!

Dragon, why do you consider the turbo blanket a waste of money? Sure there's really no performance benefit worth speaking of, but isn't decreasing underhood temps a worthwhile reason on its own? Do you have reason to believe that keeping all that heat in might decrease the life of the turbo, or cause other turbo problems?

Is the Prosport turbo blanket on your website a direct fit for the EB turbo? It looks more like a universal blanket. Thanks.

The stock turbo is low in the engine bay and if it offered a significant cooling problem Ford would have added some form of heat shielding to it.

On the other hand, if you upgrade your turbo with a kit from FFTEC or MAP that are top mounted I'm all for them. With those kits you are mounting a turbo where there was no plan for one so blocking that heat is probably worthwhile and maybe even necessary.

Basically I think there are better things you could buy for the car while still running the stock turbo.

Seen multiple GT guys complain of hood flutter at high speed, might want to hold out for a good aftermarket hood.

No idea, I personally think scoops and stuff look tacky on the S550 and only marginally ok on S197s.
