OK....Im stuck trying to decide between Livernois, Cobb, and BAMA for my 15 EB tune. I drive a ton of miles but I also like a lot of power to play with and I hate how this car goes flat after 4-5k. I need recommendations on the best power/safety combination, I don't want to buy an engine Also, i love the sound of a BOV, aren't there some CAI that make the same sound?

The MMR intake greatly emphasizes the turbo noise, but it isn't exactly a BOV sound.

What I've found is Livernois (317 HP/359 torque) for most power, COBB (278 HP/386 torque) for most variety in your tunes and usage out of the tunes and tuner (no lift to shift available for manuals, on the fly map switching, engine gauges, ability to tune yourself if you get the software) and the BAMA (282 HP/341 torque) tuner is the cheapest with more variety than the Livernois tuner but not as much as the COBB (map switching is slower, no word on the no lift to shift or ability to tune yourself, but it does have engine gauges)

We have been tuning using SCT since the calibrations first came out. We were one of the first to have our hands on an EB and have been developing tunes for all kinds of needs. From daily driver Torque tunes to full out race tunes. I think you would be very happy with the results using our tuning.

We have made more power up top where the car will "Flatline" as well as increased Torque down low. One ride in a car with just our tune is all it would take to convince you.

You get a bit more of the recirc valve/blowoff sound using an aftermarket CAI. An open filter will give you the best "blowoff" sound but we dont suggest it as open filters will suck up underhood temps and the last thing an already heat affected turbo application needs is more heat. The lower you can get the IAT's the better the overall performance and the Airaid with its sealed box along with the huge frontal area that Ford has provided to supply fresh air will prove to be the dominant performance CAI for this car!!! We have made large gains using the Airaid and our tuning.

We are also the only company offering a bolt in OR pipe for the EB, we have tested, tuned and raced our car more then pretty much anyone else to get results that real world people can relate to. Anyone can toss on a set of slicks/skinnies, put a kill tune on the car and remove a bunch of weight for a number but the majority of our customers over the years have proved that what they want is to jump in the car and be happy each and every time they put the right foot down and thats what we provide.

There's also WMS (284/376), and Unleashed tuning (299/381). There's Lund Racing too, who is very similar to Livernois in their results.

Congrats on the new EB Mustang purchase! It's an awesome platform and we're all really excited to see so much development. CAIs will open up the intake tract and will make those awesome turbo noises a lot more obvious. I'd recommend listening to a few to see which you prefer. There are lots of options out there when it comes to tuning. Luckily, the folks you're considering all make a good product so no matter what you choose, I'm sure you'll like your decision. But, I'm obviously a little biased towards COBB so let me tell you why it's the best one to go with!

When developing our tunes, and tuner for this, and all of the other platforms out there, we made many decisions based on one focus in mind. Offering the absolute best results out there in all facets of tuning.

Adding "bells and whistles" onto a tuner is something that can be done rather simply, but we made a decision to focus on the quality of our tunes over trivial items that sound good on paper, but very few people actually utilize.

With all of our tuning experience on the EcoBoost, we have learned long ago that the most efficient tune, is the most powerful tune. meaning our 93 octane performance tune will get the best gas mileage, even trumping specially made economy tunes? Why is this? because an engine is it's most efficient when it is making the most power at a given airflow. If your car makes more power at 25% throttle than it did at 30% throttle before, now you can stay at the lower throttle/boost amount to maintain your speed or accelerate, making it use less fuel naturally.

This is why we have not done things like on the fly tune adjustments, because unless your changing parts, or completely changing the fuel used, there is no need to change the tune if it's done properly.

This is why the cars we build and tune basically own every record out there for EcoBoost platforms, because we churn out no BS results, and get the car to do everything we want right from the get go. No need for wasting time logging, or playing around with boost levels needlessly. We already do all of the R+D at our own facility on our own car, so we can do proper testing before it's release, rather than making our customers be the guinea pig.

At the end of the day there is only two things that matter, are you faster than the guy next to you? And is your tune safe? And we have proven time and time again that when we tune an EcoBoost, the answer is yes ;)

to the Op- an intake will make the turbo sound louder but the "whoosh" from letting off throttle will depend on the BPV. If you go full atmospheric (i wouldn't recommend) you will get a much louder sound vs a 50/50 or full recirc. There are BPV's that are full recirculating that are noticeably louder than stock. I would suggest searching youtube and there should be some decent videos. Go fast bits comes to mind for loud recirc BPV.

You have a lot of choices already when it comes to tuning your EcoBoost, its great to see all the tuning companies work hard at getting these tunes right, very impressive.

I'd say COBB, Livernois or Lund, any of the 3 would be a great choice.

If you're not familiar with VMPTuning, Justin Starkey started the company in 1999 and has been providing the Mustang industry with some of the safest, best performing tunes since.

you got the same color as me, wheels look great! How has the low end tq been with yours? I was a little leery because of the low HP numbers they posted.

Thanks for all the responses! I've heard great things about both Cobb and Livernois. I like Cobb's tq numbers and Livernois Hp numbers. does either offer a CAI package like BAMA does? Call me dumb, but I love that woosh should when you let off the gas!

I prefer a tune by guys that race cars themselves. Software developers and their gimmicks don't impress me...I have yet to see many of the dyno claims substantiated w/ track times.

I'm also very skeptical of companies that have been import-centric getting into the Mustang market. Most 'import guys' I know are idiots.

Not only is Justin at VMPTuning a racer himself, I watched his wife drive her TVS powered S197 into the 9's last weekend!
