I have a 2015 Mustang GT with a MT 82 transmission. I have a transmission leak that appears to be coming from the vent valve on the top of the transmission.

my shop which is a Ford dealer,.. went to order the vent valve replacement and said that is two pieces,.. one part is coming in today and the other part is on BACKORDER,… crap.

I have a couple questions:

Does anyone know where I can go to find the diagram for the transmission vent valve or even the part numbers for these two pieces?

Being that the part is on back order is there an aftermarket replacement for this vent valve?

Thanks!

What's the purpose of this vent valve?

The purpose of the vent is to allow air to vent when the oil warms up inside the gearbox. It is not meant to pass oil. Most of the time the leak is from where the breather attaches to the transmission.
The best fix here is to drop the gearbox for room and properly attach a fitting and hose which is poked through the transmission tunnel and attached to the firewall. This will never fail again.

ps never go to a Ford dealer as they can only reinstate the crappy design adopted by the manufacturer.

I took a pic and added a few extra breather holes on the cap and havent had any issues.

Theres also a gasket where the shift rod goes into the case. I suppose that could leak too. I had an issue with my shift rod and I’d get some drips on the driveway from there.

anyway sounds like you know whats leaking.
