I recently at 4.5 years and 33k miles changed the stock fluid to BG Synchro Shift II.

Immediately noticed positive change. Less clunking into gear and it just slides in easier.

My factory fill was also higher than what it said to add as the replacement, which I wonder could cause any issues like lockout/grinding?

Anyway just wanted to chime in very happy with the BG product.

My 2022 GT factory fill was over the fill plug and ran out a little but I don't think it hurts a thing??

I changed mine last weekend to Red Line DCTF which I found to be better than BG Syncro II in my 2014 GT....just a little better. In my 2022 GT it seems a bit smoother than OEM but not NIGHT AND DAY........my main complaint with 2014 OEM was cold shifting Winter......3rd would nibble the first few shifts but OK when it warmed up or circulated a bit!!

Seems like Ford has improved their OEM Fluid but the Red Line seems a little smoother plus I installed a magnetic drain plug!!

I would doubt fluid and fill would help 3rd gear lockout but I'm sure others will chime in on the subject??

Good Luck!!

Ford changed mine with the BG and I noticed the trans temps were cooler.

I did the BG Sychro-shift II a few thousand miles ago at about 49K. I noticed a big difference from the stock 2018 fluid. Buttery smooth.

I am not a huge additive person especially to CVT's but I added a bottle of BG CVT conditioner to my wife Rogue and the CVT is quieter. Already had drained replaced 5 quarts before and shifted better but always had a whine that bothered me.
So decided to try it and was shocked it helped, they claim it reconditions the old fluid.

They are known to have CVT issues so trying to keep it alive and happy.

Update: I took a 70+ mile ride through the BEAUTIFUL SC Lowcountry today.......81* and just right for a Top Down ride......my shifts are much smoother with the Red Line DCTF and it was very easy to slide from 4th to 3rd when going to 5th......never happened before so it really is less notchy!!

Stay Tuned......we'll see if it's any different after a few hundred more miles??

Motul DCTF-Meets ford spec and is night and day difference. No more nibble, crunchy feeling when shifting. My cold shifts now feel better than the warmed up shifts on the OEM fluid. Granted I changed to MGW shifter, Stainless clutch line and the Motul DCTF at same time. But this thing is such a joy to row the gears in now.

Just placed my order.
It appears here that replacing the fluid with anything is better than the factory fill, LOL..

I decided to use BG instead of Motul because data on Motul is newer and BG has been used for the entire time the MT-82 is out. I'm no expert, just decided I liked the idea of the longer track record one in my daily driver.

Did the change today. The rear took both quarts. Nothing overflowed. Took the top plug out again after a ride and still nothing.
The trans used everything minus the supplied cup to measure exactly what's supposed to be left . Car only had 19K but I ve done all the fluids (other than coolant ) since I purchased it so I m all good now.

BTW, I never asked, old fluid from trans had some gold metallic fine particles. Magnetic did not pick them up. Someone told me that just a coating that was on parts? Thanks.

Seeing some fine metal particles is normal. There are bronze components in the trans which look a lot like gold. Also, bronze is not magnetic.

disregard the inside but look at the edge (rest of pan had other contamination not related). Gold. Trans working fine. Wish I had have cleaned out pan before hand.

I think its just normal wear and tear. Looks almost salt like in size. If you had pieces that you can actually pick up with your fingers, then I would be concerned. Here's an example.
