So wait they broke your balls about dumb shit but it’s ok for there to be gang bangers shooting half the state up, time to move bud
Saw a video of the SanFran Target Store yesterday. EVERYTHING is behind locked glass. That says, well, everything about CA these days

Actually, I'm afraid this is a trend moving across the country.

Wal-Mart and now Target have begun locking things down in my local. Not everything, but more expensive, easily hidden items.

My biggest surprise was Home Depot, putting huge rolls of electrical wiring in locked cages. But it was later explained to me that, shoplifters will load up a cart, get to checkout, then make a run for it. With no security and who knows what will happen if attempted to stop, they were letting people run out. Now, it's all locked-down. A rep will get it and walk it to the counter. Power tools? Ha. Those were secured years ago.

You my friend are exercising an excessive amount of common sense and responsibility, that seems to be highly frowned upon these days in society. For some reason people think the cops wrote the laws and get to put all the fines into their own pockets. Those “petty” things that people get stopped for lead to much bigger issues that tend to keep us safe. If nobody believes that just open your eyes and look at the crime in localities that have removed law enforcement’s ability to stop for the “petty” issues and made these violations illegal to stop for (tint, lights out, tags not expired for more than 30 days, obstructed view, etc). Imo don’t drive with illegal crap in your car and you won’t have to worry but again how dare you require people to follow the laws. If the blue giraffes are disproportionately held accountable the blue giraffes should start following the law, that’s the purpose for making these stops illegal after all.

“P. No law-enforcement officer shall stop a motor vehicle for a violation of this section. No evidence discovered or obtained as the result of a stop in violation of this subsection, including evidence discovered or obtained with the operator's consent, shall be admissible in any trial, hearing, or other proceeding”

More times than not if someone gets a ticket for the “petty” issue they earned that trophy due to that thing under their nose.
I generally agree. But, you have to admit that there are too many laws on the books. The laws of anyone state printed out are the size of an encyclopedia set. There is no way the average citizen can know them all, and if wanted (needed), law enforcement can find a violation. Laws just keep getting added to, seldom does anything get taken off the books. Look at what Congress does, they just add laws (and taxes). That said, I'm talking from a macro perspective. I'd think we'd agree that traffic laws are known by most and are not as voluminous.

Lots of talk about rules and laws and a few saying we should complain when enforced. Question -- why not just speed limit every car to the max highway speed? I know some will say emergencies, but that should justify 120mph or more limiters. One step further, use GPS and speed limit by street, enforce stops, ... We want the ability to stretch the law, and the government gives it to us.

A parallel, golf regulates how far a ball can fly, how springy a driver club can be. Why let a Tesla go 0-60 in under 2 secs?

It’s all good. I believe people are entitled to their opinions. Regardless I respect that other people have their own beliefs. I removed my disrespect wording that I should not have used. Moving on now….

I live in CA, consider myself a patriot and fight with everything I have to make changes. I think the mindset is that everyone in CA is like that. Very far from the truth. We are just outnumbered. I live in the Central Valley and the majority of people here can't stand our policies. It really sucks seeing what has happened to our state!
Agree (although I am in MA, not CA). If you looked at Dem v Rep in blue states, you'd find that there are 40% or more conservatives (add in not declared and right of center Dems) and it isn't as lopsided as it seems.

Hey guys, just came across this post. I live in Southern California, North L.A. area. I was actually given a ticket recently for exhaust and received a State Ref for my Factory stock 2022 Mach 1 🙁

I was turning left and happened to accelerate spiritedly up to 45 mph and left off. I was in Track mode on the exhaust BTW. I was swarmed by 4 cop cars and surrounded when I pulled into a McDonald's to get a McFlurry. The cop said they heard me from down the street supposedly. I told them it was completely stock and it only had about 400 miles at the time. They started explaining something about the Hellcats and the track key and yadda yadda yadda. I explained to them this was nothing like that and that is smog legal. They looked under the hood and were questioning the stock open air box. Once again I explained that my car is completely smog legal from the factory. They said they were doing a sideshow crack down that night and that I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. This was at about 9 p.m. in the evening.
.....

My brother, who has a 2020 GT PP, was also following me. He has an H pipe installed with the rest of his stock exhaust. He was also given a ticket. His was only given a $25 "fix it ticket" fortunately for him. He was just driving normally and didn't even accelerate hard. He will be replacing with the stock resonator and paying the ticket.
Crikey! It is like war on all ICE sport cars! Okay I know even here in Indy the PD has problems with illegal street races or burnout shows. But once they can see your ride is a stock street legal car leave it be man! CA is nuts about this shit, and for a state that can't keep the juice flowing during the summers even it's gonna be a real trip trying to keep charging even 40% EV's out there some day.

Edit addition: I totally loved driving the PCH from LA to north of San Francisco years back, also the Navarro Woods drive, and Napa valley, so cool! The state has incredibly beautiful places, weather and cool little towns up and down the coast. I enjoy visiting but the abject misery of trying to live in the state, just a shame was it's come to in so many places.

Maybe the next wave of Californians leaving the state will be the Mustang, Challenger, Camaro and muscle car owners. smh

I am going on a tangent here, but have a feel for sharing it anyway.

The industrial revolution was possible because people were free to pursue and develop the ideas they had without any regulations. If something succeeded it was because it was better - smaller, lighter, more refined, more precise, faster, etc. and it was clearly obvious. There were no artificial standards, requirements or regulations to skew the progress. The challenge was just human faculties facing the nature (and the laws of physics :)).

Today we (western society) effectively removed that freedom from us by replacing the laws of physics by the laws of ideology a making that the limits of the progress. Only the "right" progress is allowed (and quite often also enforced) and only the ideas which adhere to the "right truth" are acceptable. Why some people find this status quo befitting their goals, I can imagine. Why the majority supports them though, I cannot.

I asked a PA state troop about window tinting and he said if he couldn't see the driver he would add it to a ticket he was writing. Meaning keep the tint low and you're good to go.
Turn on the interior lights even in the daytime if tinted. helps them be able to see what you are doing and if anyone else is in the car.
I put my hands (both) on the wheel at 10-11 o clock, so they can see both of them from a good distance.

Tide is a big one that is getting locked up now, it gets sold on the black market for something, having heard what they are using it for, but wally and target and many grossers are locking that crap up.

Sadly, As I was told by a long friend that is an officer. "ignorance of the law doesn't make you not guilty"

Be careful for what you wish for, the EU is pushing for a gps based speed limiting software in new vehicles.
Limiting a vehicle to the speed limit (gps) or the highest speed limit of the USA will cause more problems that it is worth.
You have a better chance of getting in a wreck in a pack of vehicles. and if they are all limited to the same speed, This will just make the highways Talladega, one driver makes a mistake and you have the big one.
Thanks but I'll pass.

They don't even look now, with ear buds in can't hear crap and just walk out into traffic. Most of them just wait to hear the "walk" tone out of the pole and never even look, in their own little world.

Funny about that Tesla added noises to alert pedestrians within a certain range. Then they let the owers customize the sounds, you can guess where that went. The DOT stepped in and is working on a "standard" alert sound so all EV makers will have to have it for safety.
